Default Weekly Prospect Standouts FR-SR:

I did this last year and it was kind of fun. Bringing up prospects that either really impressed this past weekend of games or prospects that stood out who are new on the radar so to speak.

Week 1:
*Greg Reid FR CB Florida State: Big time prospect, wonderful speed, quick athletically in every respect, has great energy on the field. Looks like Florida State finally has a potentially great corner back once again. He should be starting next week, he is better than any other corner they have outside of Patrick Robinson.

*Jacory Harris SOPH QB Miami FL: Could a quarterback play any better? As a leader he was outstanding, kept his cool, did not get upset and threw the ball with accuracy and touch. Wonderful game for Harris, it is obvious now why all those quarterbacks transferred, they will not play with him around.

*TJ Ward Oregon: Flat out stud, outstanding defensive back and has 1st round potential if he keeps playing this well. Really runs fast and hits hard, great player.

*Devin Taylor FR DE South Carolina: An absolute beast, lengthy defensive end, quick off the ball, could be a terror for years to come as a pass rusher. Just an outstanding defensive end and joins a great group of defensive lineman at South Carolina.

*Mark Ingram SOPH RB Alabama: An absolute beast, far better than he was last season, was a literal bowling ball on the field, hard to bring down and changed directions at will.

*Nigel Bradham SOPH ILB Florida State: That kid is a big time star, Florida State has not had a linebacker like that for a few years, big time player a lot like Sims or Timmons. Wonderful speed, should have an outstanding season for them.

*Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina: Big aggressive defensive back, showed great ball skills clearly and should only get better with time.

*Dustin Hopkins FR K Florida State: A star is born at kicker, love that kids leg, sure has some issues closer in but what a leg, top notch kicking prospect.

*Tori Gurley FR WR South Carolina: Big tall kid, by far the most impressive for the Gamecocks.

*Jake Johnson SOPH OLB Virginia Tech: I liked how he played, a little small but was all over the field, covered the pass well and tackled very aggressively.

*Rashad Carmichael JR CB Virginia Tech: Not very well known right now, but I liked how he tackled and he seems to be a very solid corner.

*Roy Upchurch SR RB Alabama: Really broke out in this game, always thought he had flashes of big play ability and showed it against VT. Powerful running back that attacked all night long, he really made their running game something special.

*Greg McElroy JR QB Alabama: Impressed with him, I already like him more than Wilson as a pro prospect, just has more to offer in all categories.

*Preston Dial JR TE Alabama: Monster blocking H-back/TE, just a nasty blocker and watch him next game, very impressive kid.

*Colin Peek SR TE Alabama: Very good tight end, big, has good hands and should have a monster season for Bama.

*Matt Barkley FR QB USC: Clearly is a stud, should be the starter for the rest of the season, started out slow but he got his legs under him. Such a talented throwing arm, and the team seems to respond well to him on the field.

*Aaron Webster SR S Cincinnati: Big tall defensive back, really impressed against Rutgers, someone to watch out for as the season goes on.

*Mike Williams SR WR Syracuse: Back from the brink, Williams with a good year could be a 1st day selection in the draft, very fine receiver, only negative about him is his name and who it reminds people of.

*Delone Carter SR RB Syracuse: Very impressed with him, could be a sleeper come draft time but the kid can carry the football.

*Greg Paulus SR QB Syracuse: What a leader at quarterback, he is a better leader at quarterback than I would say easily 70% of the college quarterbacks playing today. I really liked how he played, moved around, not a great arm but his energy really helped that team.

*Caz Piurowski SR TE Florida State: Love his size, big tall kid, played great and if he keeps it up his stock will continue to rise.

*Jarmon Forston SOPH WR Florida State: Another big receiver, not great but physically he looks good and has a lot of potential and raw athletic ability.

*Sam Shields SR CB Miami FL: Really like the change to corner, and he played quite well to be honest, very nice change for his career.

*Travis Benjamin SOPH WR Miami FL: Real big time prospect, has big time speed and can get easy separation.

*Mike James FR RB Miami FL: Love his size, hope he sees more time and gets more carries down the line this season.

Lee Campbell SR ILB Minnesota: Played great, big time hitter and had plays all over the field, should have a fine season and will be drafted.

Disappointed
Kam Chancellor SR S Virginia Tech: Was horrible, so taken advantage of in coverage, they literally went at him every time. Really not a good sign, however they did that to Rouse at times as well, just depends on where a team fits him in. But still not a good showing being the target of the other teams offensive attack.

Sean Spence SOPH OLB Miami FL: Did not make many plays, was put in pass coverage and did not do well and did not impact the game much at all. However should do better against teams that run more and he can use his speed, but still was not a great outing.

- He plays for USC
- They played San Jose State
- He did not throw a ball longer than 15 yards
- He has USC's running game and if they never threw a pass the entire game, it was still going to be a ridiculous blowout.

He's definitely talented, but let's give him a little time before he's anointed as anything.

I think Locker and Patrick Peterson deserve a spot up there. Locker for how great he's adjusted to Sark's system so far and how good he looked against a tough SEC defense and Peterson for his amazing coverage skills that game. He looked like a first round CB out there.

Oh and Allen Bailey. He's having no trouble with the switch to DT full time. He was consistently collapsing the pocket whether he was double teamed or not.

With that name and a background in the Buffalo Public Schools, Mike Williams is bound to **** this up. He's also kind of a dumbass, but I'm rooting hard for him. Never expected him to be this good.

just from ND:
jimmy clausen looked good, not great. however if this turns out to be his base level he will be a first rounder imo
michael floyd was awesome, he will be a sort of marques colston for someone but slightly stronger and quicker. will stay for his full four years so its a wait to see him on sundays.
kyle mccarthey showed once again he is the measuring stick for being a solid safety. he might not have as much upside but i expect him to be a solid pro although not a game changer.
eric olsen: showed why i rate him as one of the best guards/centers around. rocksolid in pass protection and okay in run blocking. best player on irish oline

Bailey did look good but I must say Miami's D-line was really disappointing, their DEs are so damn small, fast but so small. Wish they had the good old Vince Wilfork types back on that DL. Bailey did play well however.

True, however there was nothing it that game that made me question anything about him. Most of it was based off of how he threw the football and how he got rid of the ball. Sure he could be a total loser and be lazy as can be but I doubt that is the case.

Floyd is much more Larry Fitzgerald than Colston. He's probably my favorite WR prospect in college football right now.

No mention of Tony Pike is a bit surprising. He was a sleeper of mine to make the jump into the first round this year. I still think he can do it.

Trent Williams owned almost every single person that touched him in the loss to BYU.

I agree, Patrick Peterson should be up there. I think he has potential to be a Top 10 pick someday, either as a corner or safety.

You have Blaine Gabbert up there, but I think Danario Alexander should be up there with him

Also, Jimmy Clausen and Michael Floyd

Eric Decker caught 9 balls for about 180 yards I believe. He basically is our offense.

Lee Campbell is turning into a really solid middle linebacker too, although he's still probably a 5th round prospect.

'literal' means NOT figurative. so, when ya say he was a 'literal bowling ball', you're basically saying that he didn't play like a bowling ball, but actually transformed into a bowling ball. i sincerely doubt this happened. if it did, i need to start paying more attention to SEC football.

I was more impressed by Jacory Harris & Blaine Gabbert than Matt Barkley to be honest. Did he even throw a td ? Hype machine has already begun. I don't know why you'd mention Sam Shields. He did not stand out at all. Randy Phillips on the other hand could blow up if he puts together a good senior season. And finally, Michael Floyd was the most impressive player I saw week one.

Can we all take note that Barkley threw a TD (4 yds to Rhett Ellison) it seems to be confusing a lot of folks. I will admit Matt didnt set the world on fire but keep it in perspective it was his first game, he's a true freshman and everyone sort of figured he'd just hand the ball off.

I'd give a mention of James Johnson, Washington fr. WR. had 6 catches for 63 yds and a TD.

Tate Forcier- The Man.
Brandon Graham almost had about a half-dozen sacks. Only finished with 0.5 tackles, but repeatedly abused WMU's OL and forced throws, one of which led to a Boubacar Cissoko interception.
Junior Hemingway- 2004 Braylon, is that you? :D A slight exaggeration, but still a great game.

I'm only going to mention guys from the UCLA/SDSU game because it's the only game I really paid attention to

The big 3 on the UCLA Defense(Brian Price, Reggie Carter, and Alterraun Verner) all showed up as expected but I was also very impressed with the Bosworth twins. The one who plays DE was getting a ton of pressure the QB and the one who plays OLB showed sound open field tackling.

For San Diego State I really like junior WR Vincent Brown. He has good speed and his routes looked crisp. LB Luke Laogai looked like he could be the next NFL linebacker from SDSU
