Stallworth and Horn are very different. Horn is a career overachiever, a veteran guy who produces when not hurt and a good possesion receiver. Stallworth has great talent but what has he ever done and speed is definetely his greatest asset. Depending on what your team needs, you would like one more than the other.

FA should dictate what you do in the Draft, not the other way around. And how would you know someone will trade up for C.J.?

So basically, there was 0 chance we would ever get the third. I would hope the contract would have worded it, if he signs a contract before next season with the eagles, we get a 3rd.

Well, if the eagles really wanted to re-sign him, by signing him before FA started it would be a guarentee that he would be back, but it is not guarenteed that he will re-sign now if they wanted him to because he might want to look at more offers. So there was definitely more than 0 chance that you would have got the 3rd. I would have liked for him to be signed before FA but if he signs now it would be the best case scenario for us because we keep our 3rd rounder.

According to ESPN, the Eagles are the only team that have had talks with him yet. Still holds out hope for Eagles fans like me.
The Titans have talked with him I believe, but they won't give him the 18 million dollar signing bonus he wants.

They are getting Walker. Dont know why they would trade a 2nd round pick for Wes Walker and give him 39 mil rather then get Stallworth for around the same price, who is around the same age, much better player, and they dont have to get rid of their 2nd rounder.

The Patriots should definitely make a move to sign him considering Jackson's injury and the overall lack of WR depth on their roster.

I honestly dont see what the big deal is about stallworth. He always seems to get injured and never has had a 1000 yard season. And he wants 18 mil guaranteed?

No matter what the market is, he will have to lower his price. Nobody gives deals to players like stallworth who get injured.

http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/302227

According to this he only played a full 16 game season only twice.

I remember when we got blasted for trading him. And, now he's chillin' in free agency. *smirks*

He's a burner, and the great deep threat teams value. Now that he's hands down the best WR on the market, it doesn't matter that he's injury prone, which I think most people make a bigger deal out of than it actually is. Larger cap. Lots of teams with plenty of cap space. He'll get his money.

Nobody is going to give that much guaranteed money to a injury prone player. He will not get his 18 mil signing bonus he is angling for. If there was a team willing to pay him that much he would have been signed already. Its most likely a ploy and he will probably end up in the 10-14 range of guaranteed money, id think.

Hopefully the lack of information about whats happening with Stallworth means that something is going on behind closed doors with the Eagles front office.

Default why not both

I don't see the problem with the Pats signing both...Welker for a 2nd is a tad high, but the draft history suggests that rookie wrs are some of the least productive positions. Who knows what will happen with Chad Jackson and trotting out Stallworth/Welker/Caldwell is a nice upgrade.

NFL | Stallworth reportedly in substance-abuse program
Mon, 5 Mar 2007 08:14:52 -0800

ESPN.com reports free agent WR Donte' Stallworth (Eagles), according to a report in The Philadelphia Daily News, is a participant in the league's substance-abuse program and could be subjected to a suspension should he violate terms of the program again. Stallworth has yet to visit any teams this offseason as a free agent.

I read this in the other thread about Donte going to the Pats. Go to that thread if you want to view my opinion on that. I really hope this isn't true.
