What does "poison pill contract" means exactly?

it's a contract clause that makes it very hard for a team (dolphins) to match a contract offer from another team.

if they used the poison pill they could add provisions like if he plays a certain amount of games, the contract would be guaranteed. also they could of added a ton of money and backloaded the contract so the dolphins would have a harder time matching the offer.

edit-just like the steve hutchinson situation last year, in the vikings offer they included that if he wasnt the highest paid offensive lineman then the contract becomes guaranteed.
