Default Week 14 Power Rankings

The playoff picture is becoming more clearer as the NFL only has 3 weeks left of games to play.

1. New Orleans Saints (13-0) – Their defense isn't playing as well as it did during the beginning of the season but they are finding ways to win.

2. Indianapolis Colts (13-0) – A game in Jacksonville looms, who always plays Indianapolis tough.

3. Minnesota Vikings (11-2) – The Vikings silenced their doubters in a beat down of the Bengals.

4. San Diego Chargers (10-3)
– Philip Rivers and company are playing their best football when it counts. A key game against Cincy looms.

5. Green Bay Packers (9-4) – This team barely resembles the team from early November.

6. Philadelphia Eagles (9-4) – Philly's offense and ST were able to outscore the Giants in one of the most exciting games in recent memory.

7. Cincinnati Bengals (9-4) – Getting dominated by the Vikings was not the statement the Bengals wanted to make.

8. Denver Broncos (8-5) – A loss to the Colts isn't that bad but it's how you rebound is what matters.

9. Arizona Cardinals (8-5) – San Francisco just dominated them, forcing them to commit turnovers, and in the process Larry Fitzgerald got banged up.

9. Miami Dolphins (7-6) – Sunday's win against Jacksonville was crucial for the Dolphins to have any shot at the wild card.

11. New England Patriots (8-5) – Sure they won, and a win is a win, but that was an ugly performance against Carolina and now it looks like Randy Moss will pull the same act he did when he was in Minnesota and Oakland.

12. Baltimore Ravens (7-6) – Their remaining schedule doesn't look that daunting especially after that absolute beat down of the Lions.

13. Dallas Cowboys (8-5) – December woes continue to haunt America's Team.

14. New York Giants (7-6) – In their loss to the Eagles, the Giants offense wasn't the problem. It was their Swiss cheese defense that got lit up like a Christmas tree that cost them the game.

15. Jacksonville Jaguars (7-6) – Their road to the playoffs got that much more difficult after the loss against Miami.

16. New York Jets (7-6) – With remaining games against Atlanta, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati, the road to the playoffs looks to be extremely bumpy.

17. Tennessee Titans (6-7) – Chris Johnson shattered a long-standing Houston Oilers record and is setting his sights on Eric Dickerson's rushing record but that won't come easy against Miami.

18. San Francisco 49ers (6-7) – As if there was any doubt, the key to victory for the 49ers is getting Frank Gore at least 15 touches a game.

19. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-7) – 2-5 away from Heinz Field and losses to the Chiefs, Raiders, and Browns don't particularly exemplify what a defending champion is about.

20. Houston Texans (6-7) – They lit up the Seahawks porous secondary and should do the same against St. Louis to get back to .500.

21. Atlanta Falcons (6-7) – The good news is that the Saints secondary made QB Chris Redman look like an All-Pro.

22. Buffalo Bills (5-8) – Perry Fewell is doing his best to get his name mentioned as the next full time head coach for next season.

23. Carolina Panthers (5-8) - At least they were able to contain Randy Moss.

24. Chicago Bears (5-8) – An anemic offense with an interception prone quarterback is putting the entire Bears coaching staff on the hot seat.

25. Seattle Seahawks (5-8) – Change could be coming sooner to the Emerald City after a performance like the one on Sunday.

26. Washington Redskins (4-9) – The 'Skins are playing tough football even though their not putting up very many W's.

27. Oakland Raiders (4-9) – With Bruce Gradkowski being sidelined, the Raiders season is effectively over unless J.P. Losman carries the same swagger he had in the UFL to the Black Hole.

28. Kansas City Chiefs (3-10) – Next week's game against Cleveland could be the second best game of the decade from Detroit/Cleveland.

29. Cleveland Browns (2-11) – A win against the Steelers and Brady Quinn are two things the Dawg Pound has to look forward to.

30. Detroit Lions (2-11) – Nothing to see here. Move along. Move along now, folks.

31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-12) – Hard to imagine that this team won the division in 2007.

32. St. Louis Rams (1-12) – Jimmy Clausen to St. Louis should be a foregone conclusion.

Good work as usual.

I still think Dallas is better than the 13th best team in the league despite the signs of them falling into their annual collapse. It's not like they're losing to bad teams.

Also I know it's almost impossible to rank the Cardinals but I think they could be a couple slots higher. When they're at their best they can beat anyone.

I don't think New England is a top 10 team right now, and the Randy Moss fiasco can't help anything. That game was way too close for playing a team led by Matt Moore.

At one point I had the Cardinals as the 5th best team but their mercurial. I never know where to accurately rank them.

Dallas does seem that their better than I ranked them but until they play better then they'll stay lower than other teams with their record.

Look at the top 5 teams in the power rankings. Those are the teams with probably the 5 most impressive QB's this year. Shows you how important the position is.

I actually thought about ranking them 1a and 1b. I don't think one is better than the other. Maybe a slight edge to the Colts but it's only slight.

If you think you can do it and get 99% of the forum to agree with it, than do it. If you act like you know everything, then do something to prove it at least.

Anyways Diabsoule, I liked the rankings as usual, but in my opinion I think the Vikings should be number 4 and Chargers should be number 3. The Chargers have had some really nice games, on the other hand the Vikings have lost some close ones, and also melted down against the Cards. Just my input.

Damn't, the Rams used to be ranked 27th and 28th in the Power Rankings. I miss those days.

That may happen if the Chargers keep playing like they do but I thought the Vikings curb stomping of the Bengals was more impressive than the Chargers win against the Cowboys which is why Minnesota is ranked ahead of S.D.

I actually agree with this. Cincy is a tough squad, not as focused on opening it up offensively as they have in years past but they've definitely shown this year that their foundation is rock solid. Minny taking them apart was a big deal, and the Charger/Cowboy game was a hard fought game.

and sometimes decent teams lose close games at the end. Its just kinda funny that if shaun suisham made a 23 yard field goal, the skins would move up like 4 spots in the power rankings and the saints would be #2...

thanks for the negative rep and calling me an ''asshat'' from the poster dough boy. I just pointed out the obvious that all that was really done was just putting the NFL teams in order from first to last..

jerk.

As the season has progressed, that could seem to be the way it looks but it's not. I already explained why the Chargers are not ranked ahead of the Vikings and there are some 7-6 teams ranked higher than 8-5 teams. But, it's kind of hard to argue why the teams at the bottom are ranked where they are. I mean, if you have only won one game then you're at the bottom. I put the 'Skins over the Raiders because they won. And maybe they should have been ranked over the Seahawks but I'd like to see a win more impressive than beating Oakland.

Always look forward to these, even if the Chiefs are always at the bottom. Hard to argue with your rankings.

Top 5. Nice. Even with the way we're playing, I can't see us ranked higher than that. There may be a handful of awful, awful teams but there are just as many very good teams.

Broncos are way too low, Diab. We're winning the super bowl this year. Some really knowledgeable poster, I forget his name atm posted it in the Saints thread. I'm taking it as fact. Everyone else is competing for 2nd place right now. The neckbeard has mystical powers. He mostly uses them to get women wet on eye contact, but he'll use them to win the super bowl this year. Broncos-69 Saints- 0.

Every week I try to write up a quick power ranking off the top of my head in Microsoft notebook, then see where they match up against Diabsoule's power rankings when he posts them.

This was the first week I didn't do that, but looking at it now, I think I would have even out with you with all 32 teams. I believe that 5 through 9 are all pretty interchangable, but I don't think anyone can give a definitive reason why yours should be changed.

Nice job as always man :)

Edit: Also, every week that you rank the Saints ahead of the Colts I generally disagree, but this week something changed for me and I don't know what.
