Next time respond with this, "Do you really care or are you just asking?"
The look on their face will be priceless.

You're simply wrong on this. Red and blue are entirely different colors expressing entirely different things (aside from them both being colors), and sound way more different from each other than dominant and dominate do. Dominant and dominate both express roughly the same idea and sound about 80% alike (phonetically: /'dɑmənɪnt/ and /'dɑməneɪt/)
Seriously, man? You're not making any sense.

dude chill. the point is that dominate and dominant ARE NOT the same word, they wont mean the same thing, and when people mix them up it is annoying and makes them sound stupid. if you dont agree, i dont give a ****.

I understand that point, I'm attacking wogitalia's argument saying that dominant and dominate are more different from each other than red and blue.
I think you're the one that needs to chill. I don't doubt that you don't give a ****. Like I care.

im chill bro. whatever, the argument doesnt matter to me. red and blue is definitely a hyperbole of a comparison to dominate and dominant.
all im saying is that the two words are different and it grinds my gears when people mix them up.

Alleged professional sportswriters & (yes!) posters who use ghetto slang to abbreviate someone's name with their 1st initial & 1st surname syllable b/c they're too ******* lazy to type out or even c&p the person's name, like T-New for Terrence Newman.
The board has built-in spell checks, all you have to do is right click on the underlined misspelled word, use it!

When you are sitting in a long lecture being taught by a TA who speaks broken english. Not only that, this guy can't answer simple questions people are asking about the slides. I wonder how some of the people get these positions sometimes.

People who don't understand the time scale of things they are arguing against. Bringing up the fact that it snowed in Africa the other day does nothing to prove or disprove global warming.

I love internet arguments. They're so fun. I just highly enjoy watching a petty disagreement turn into swearing and personal attacks. I wish this forum had an icon that identified threads that contained heated arguments.
And, no, I'm not being sarcastic.

Similarly, people who see that it is really cold outside, and claim, "So much for global warming."
Seriously, you have no idea what you're talking about. Stop pretending like "Global Warming" = everything gets hot.

When I am about to win $600 on a parlay but the teams that are down shoot a last second 3 when there is no way of catching up and end up making sure the other team doesnt cover the spread. Rondo misses a FT and then D.Wade goes down the court and hits a 3 with almost no time left and make sure the Heat lose by 5 instead of the 5.5 that I bet. Then Evans for the Kings hits a last second three pointer to make sure they lose by 2 instead of the 4.5 points or more that I bet. All the other games in the parlay happened and that is the way I lose?

Being in a stats class taught by a guy who pronounces Chicago as "ChiCAYgo" and in the weekly assignments tells you to "chose a variable" also grinds my gears.

They most certainly have more in common. At least red and blue are both nouns/adjectives as opposed to dominant/dominate where one is an adjective and the other a verb. The point remains that someone is using a word that is wrong and it is a stupid mistake.
If you prefer use play and player. Sure they look similar, are pronounced similar, stem from the same place but they mean different things and are different words. You wouldn't say "He is a football play" instead of "He is a football player" so why say "dominate" when you mean "dominant"? It just makes you look stupid, the same as calling a red car a blue car would or the above player/play does. It's using a word that is obviously wrong and there is no excuse for it, not laziness, they don't "sound the same". It is purely using the wrong word and it is completely wrong and I stand by that it makes anyone doing it look stupid.
Oh... and if it wasn't clear it should be by now that this really grinds my gears!
