Not so sure about that...Boyd is played by Shawn Hatosy. He's not just some bit player or no name actor, exactly. Not a big name, either...but established enough. I think he'll be sticking around for a little while.
Anyway, I just finished the 2nd episode a second ago...it was good. Cody is a terrible, terrible actor...Astor has gotten better, but still nothing amazing. Sorry to be hard on the kids. lol.
edit...Also...Julia Stiles is supposed to be some beaten down blonde chick, according to everything before the show started up. She fits in perfectly with Boyd's M.O....so I'd expect this to get pretty drawn out. Or at the very least, set up her introduction to the series.
I don't think Boyd is going to be the big time serial killer in this season. He'll be like the tree cutter from season 3? I think that was the one. This season isn't going to be all about catching one guy like season 4 and season 1, thats already obvious because of the head with the eyes and tongue cut out, thats going to go somewhere as well obviously. And the Trinity situation isn't even over yet, especially with Quinn piecing the three Kyle Butler sketches into what looks like Dexter at the end of the episode, theres going to be stuff happening there too. I'm sure other **** will get thrown in, and Dexter clearly is going to be working through some **** about how he deals with his "problem" based on what he said at the end of the most recent episode, not needing to do anything about whats happening with the boyd situation, just feeling numb, etc.
I dont think he'll be big time exactly....but I do see it getting relatively drug out, like I said previously. Just for the simple facts that he's played by Shawn Hatosy and it looks like Julia Stiles may be a target of his. They're the two biggest names they've added to the series this year...They're bound to last for a while, you'd think. Again, I think at worst...this just sets up Julia's character for the season, but considering they're bigger "name actors", I think they'll be one of the central focuses for a little while. Dont get me wrong...I dont think he's lasting until the last episode, but I wouldnt expect him to be killed in the next few episodes. Could be wrong...but I'm putting a lot of weight in name recognition. I think he's got two more episodes at the least.
As for one central villain...I remember the creator, saying something about several villains in succession for this season.
Sure wish there were more than 12 episodes per year. It goes way too fast.
So, anyone think Quinn is a goner this season? If one main character is dying, it will probably be him. This season seems to be setting us up for a big ole Dexter, Deb, and Quinn confrontation. Deb/Dexter have had many a moment already this season...seems like they're forshadowing her doing anything to protect her brother, down the line. Wouldnt be shocked if she ended up killing Quinn, if they really wanted to go F'd up this season. I def. think she finds out about Dex being Kyle Butler at least. All the killings? Really doubtful, imo. But probably the Kyle Butler thing and maybe the killing of the Trinity Killer. Problem with killing Quinn...is that there have already been soooo many kill offs that relate to the force in this show...it's a tad out of hand. I dont know how they'd write in another one successfully. I wouldnt miss him, though. I hate his character. There is no way that Quinn is the guy that catches Dexter for good and Quinn is damn close to figuring the Kyle Butler thing out...seems like he may not make it. He'll probably die in some fashion, or be left brain dead, or what not. haha.
I hope that hispanic female cop isnt dirty. Everyone is so god damn corrupt or a murderer on the show. Just seems like it would be a little much, and essentially the same as the reporter chick last year.
Knowing Dexter, someone else killed Rita, despite everything they've confirmed. I'm still sticking to the Trinity killer, but if someone else did it wouldnt shock me. But it would be pretty stupid.
Uhhh...that's all I got for now. You guys have any predicitons or thoughts on this season and its outcome?
edit...one more...Lets say season 6 is the last season. How does it all get wrapped up? Does Dexter ever get caught? Does he get killed? What would be your ideal outcome?
Quinn could go away, but not until he does the dirty deed with Deb. Notice that guys who go in there with her have a very high mortality rate & have a funeral shortly thereafter..... just ask Keith Carradine.
Apparently there is a theory that baby Harrison killed Rita somehow. I can't bring myself to read the threads on the IMDB message boards because if it's true I'll be pissed.

That's so ******* ******** I won't even try to comprehend it. That's like when Jeff Lindsay had The Dark Passenger as some sort of stupid ******* demon or spirit thing in one of the Dexter books, after the series fell of a cliff.
I read through all the IMDB threads. That's just a running joke. Anyone who actually believes that garbage is a moron...a lot of people do think it was neighbor Elliot, though.

Thank God because if Dexter went that route I would be done with the show. I still think it was Trinity.

Lindsay was never a talented writer to begin with. The show being better then the books shows us what the character is able to accomplish with adequate writing.

Adequate writing and Michael C. Hall mainly. Does anyone else think that the La Guerta/Angel storyline is absolutely awful?
