Yeah, I've discovered that myself, heh. I'm loving the phone though. I use it for GPS all the time with Google Navigation. Hoping that it becomes a little more reliable, but otherwise it's been great.
I'm waiting for them to regulate the Android Market a little more, though. Right now it's just too crazy and people are pricing games all over the place. One thing I like for my iPod is how the vast majority of games are all 99 cents. Plus you don't have to worry about getting viruses and such.

I'm dead serious when I say my Droid X changed my life. I can't imagine life without this thing.
If you're a city guy, I highly recommend downloading the Yelp app and the open table app. Both of those apps are so awesome if you go to restaurants with your girl or whatever. Open table lets you make reservations on the spot it's soooo good to have especially in NYC.
Another must have for New Yorkers is the Subway/Train app that gives you the locations of every terminal.
Vlingo is awesome for the car when you need to use your phone but can't type.
The movie app is great for buying movie tickets too. And all these apps sync in with Google Navigation which is also great.
If you like having a lot of apps on your homepage, download multicon, it lets you have smaller icons.
If you're into stocks, bloomberg and etrade are great apps. Zillow is great for real estate. I even have my Walgreens app for my prescriptions. And amazon app for buying stuff, ditto for best buy, and cnet scan for reviews on electronics. Just scan the barcode and it will give you a review of the product.
I work full time and go to school part time, and I downloaded a tape recorder that allows me to record lectures, then I just sink my phone to my auxillary line in my car and listen to the lectures on my way to work and back home, so I basically hear every lecture 3 times, so I don't even have to study that much bc I just remember everything. Pandora makes my ipod useless, and the mp3 player on my phone does as well.
I don't even need a calculator, I just downloaded a scientific calculator app.
I can do so much with this phone I don't even feel like I need a computer anymore. I use my phone for almost everything now. All my social networks, everything.

Btw, I just downloaded Lookout, which is rated as the best antivirus by PC Magazine for the androids, does this mean I can get rid of my AVG antivirus, or should I just keep both?
I'd imagine having both would slow down my phone. So I rather just keep one. Who has what and what do you recommend?

anti-virus on your phone is not needed unless you're downloading stuff in your web broswer.
lookout is going to kill your battery/memory.

The battery on my phone sucks anyway. I charge it every day. I download stuff every now and then and attach em in emails. I like the peace of mind that the antivirus gives me.

I don't know much about AVG for the android, but I know i use Lookout and it's been awesome. If you lose your phone, it tells you where it is via gps, and when you're near it, you can make a siren go off. Idk, i just think that's kind of cool, coming from someone who loses his phone a lot. It also backs up everything.

Sprint isn't bad but Verizon is obviously better if you can get a phone with them. Droid X is great, and is similar to the EVO. I'd go to Best Buy to check out some of the Droid phones if you can. Great way to see them in person and get a feel for them.

I can get a nice 17% off a new service plan with Sprint, through work.. so I'd like to take advantage of that one.

I have Sprint and an EVO and for the life of me can't understand why it seems to be the consensus that Verizon is better. Sprint is an outstanding company, I've never had any issues whatsoever with them, the pricing is much better than Verizon, service is great, I am beginning to get 4g here in Miami...etc. etc. Love me some sprint. The EVO is truly a life changing device (someone else actually used this term, and I agree; it's not hyperbole!) and can do absolutely anything any other phone out there (and much more) can do. Don't consider it a phone, consider it a laptop that you carry with you and is constantly on at all times.

The only people who say that are Verizon customers. Ask Sprint customers, the majority of whom are very happy with the service.

Hey, Sprint has improved a great deal, but Verizon's coverage is much much better. You may not have issues where you live, but as njx points out when you travel or go out of city it can be really brutal. It's not to bad for those of us on the East Coast, but elsewhere you can get hammered.
Not to mention the 4G technology Sprint uses is vastly inferior to Verizon's 4G network. It's the sad truth, unfortunately, because Sprint does have better pricing, but it comes at the cost of coverage and an inferior 4G network.

I'll give Sprint this: their prices are really really good.
My girl's best friend doesn't even have a phone. She lives in the city and has optimum wifi which is free for cablevision subscribers and is all over NYC, and she just uses her ipod as a phone.
It's basically an iphone 4 without the monthly bill. Nice if you live in the city (NYC) and never leave the place.

Ive got an EVO and I love it. ill admit that coverage is avg at best in Penn state. I'm military so I've been all over and this is the only place I've had issues at.
Just found an app where you can dl music for free its great.
Use lookout too to make sure I'm not downloading anything viral.
It's called music mate. It's magic.
