6. Green Bay (10-6, win out)

I think the Giants lose out (Coughlin is done there).
I simply can't see that as a hard and fast guarantee. Eagles losing 1 of 2 winnable games for the bye, Chicago conveniently beating the Jets and losing to the Packers, the Giants losing out when they're just getting desperate. This is an accurate prediction in terms of possibilities, but I wouldn't put money on it playing out like that.

I'm not guaranteeing it, just making my predictions. I think Philly can easily lose to Dallas. They are a different team than they were earlier in the season. It was a 3-point game just a few weeks ago. The game is certainly winnable but far from a guarantee.

I think the game against the Jets is a very winnable game for the Bears. The Jets aren't that good, the Bears defense should be able to get to Sanchez, and it's at home.

And even if the Giants beat Washington, they'll still probably miss the playoffs because I can't see them beating the Packers in Green Bay (especially if Rodgers is healthy).

For the sake of argument, I wouldn't say that the Bears are a lock to win this game. The Jets just went into Pittsburgh and beat the Steelers. Their defense can stop the run and the pass. They can run the ball and control the clock. They aren't intimidated by cold weather or wind. I see it as a great game and a close game.

Philly had Dallas by 10 2 games ago, then their defense gave up some bigger plays for a garbage time TD. It wasn't that close really. That game was @ Dallas with no elements. While the Eagles are dinged up, I don't necessarily the Cowboys wanting to win and cost themselves draft position.

Hard to disagree on Giants @ GB, but we said the same thing about the Giants in 2007 when they went into Lambeau and won in the NFC Championship game...

Messing with the Playoff Machine on ESPN, if the Bears win tonight they clinch the division?

With GB losing last night yes, that is correct.

Tampa doesn't deserve to go to the playoffs if you lose to Detroit in December. Props to the Lions, but if your a playoff team you win that game no matter what and it would have given them a big leg up in the wildcard. With that stumble, and Green Bay without Rodgers, I expect the Saints and Giants to lock up the wildcards.

Bears will win the division this week or next week.

The Eagles should be able to win out and get to 12-4 easily - both of their last two games are at home and against poor teams.

The real question is : Will the Bears be able to win out or will they drop a game to either the Jets or the Packers? I think they beat Minnesota easily tonight, but the games against the Jets and the Packers might be challenging.

If the Bears drop even one game, they will lose the #2 seed to Philadelphia in all likelihood.

So the Giants-Packers game will most likely decide who is left out...

The only other scenario is if the Saints lose against ATL (possible) and at home against TB in the season finale (possible).

In that case, the Bucs would still be alive, and would actually be in something pretty close to a win-and-you're in scenario in W17 vs NO (they'd need the Packers to lose one of the remaining two or the Giants to lose both - possible)

Other than that (and an outside shot for PHI or CHI to get #1 if ATL loses to NO and somehow is upset by CAR in W17) it's...

-the race for the #2 seed between PHI and CHI. CHI has the advantage right now (assuming they win tonight) because of the H2H win but PHI definitely has the easier schedule for 16 and 17.

-the ****** NFC BEST race which isn't too complicated because it comes down basically to two huge games and then SEA @ TB and ARZ @ SF

**** it:

STL wins the division with...

-W vs SF + W @ SEA
-L vs SF + W @ SEA + SF L vs ARZ

SEA wins the division with...

-W @ TB + W vs STL
-L @ TB + W vs STL + SF L @ STL

SF wins the division with...

-W @ STL + W vs ARZ + SEA L @ TB
-W @ STL + W vs ARZ + SEA L vs STL

Yeah I was wrong about the Bears. Wrong about the Chiefs. At least I was right about the Jaguars and 49ers.
