The issue isn't that he was or wasn't allowed to be there, which Danny was mistaken on.
The Auburn AD said that it was mutually agreed upon that Cecil Newton would not attend the game, but Newton shows up to the game anyway. That signals either a disconnect between Cecil Newton and the Auburn office or shows that Newton is willing to ignore Auburn's restrictions and go behind their back. Not a positive light in the wake of the pay-for-play allegations.
This wouldn't be an issue if the AD never said anything, and no one would mind if Cecil Newton is there. Auburn created this controversy themselves.
