As I see it - these are our biggest needs(not in order)

DL
CB
OL
WR

how would you guys rank em and in what order would you do so? heres my take-

#1 Wide Receiver - We get Boldin, Mason and Reed back next year. Mason will be yet another year older and will still lack the ability to stretch the field. We desperately need some explosion in our WRing core or alteast a vertical threat, someone that would compliment Flacco's cannon arm, I'm tired of some a conservative passing game, lets stretch the field!

-Torrey Smith and Jonathan Baldwin are the only two guys I want in the first.

#2 Defensive Line - We are pretty stacked on the Dline with Ngata, Gregg, Redding, Cody, Kruger, Art Jones, and McKinney. However, outside of Ngata and Redding, no one makes any impact plays. That's why I believe we could use another 5tech/34 DE. This years draft is STACKED at defensive line.

-Guys that I wouldn't mind us taking - Aldon Smith, J.J. Watt, Cameron Heyward, and Cameron Jordan. Someone's bound to fall on draft day.

#3 - Cornerback - The media loves to blame our defensive backfield and I will too, but they are not the only ones at fault. If you ask me, our pass rush was just as pathetic. If we can retain Chris Carr and Josh Wilson, get Foxworth back next year and draft a guy like Brandon Harris or Aaron Williams, that would be a very nice group. (Carr and Wilson start, Webb or Fox at nickel, and rookie play a reserve/special team role as well as 5 DB sets)

-Aaron Williams, Brandon Harris, Jimmy Smith(?),

#4 - Offensive Line - With Gaithers future in serious doubt, and Matt Birk entering his final year we NEED to look at a replacement for Birk as well as a more natural LT to take over for Oher,(which moves Yanda back to guard).

-trade down and take Wisniewski, stay at 26 and take Carimi or Nate Solder if available.

I think DL and OL are too specific. All we really need along the DL is a 5-technique that fits opposite of Ngata. Other than that we have depth at every position and we have starters in Ngata and Cody. OL is a little more clouded but we need a long-term C and a T, G isn't really a need IMO. Personally I think we need a LT whether it's Gaither or a rookie (no other free agent options really make us better IMO), but we'll see what the team wants to do with Oher.

Personally I rank our needs as this:

1. WR. This might be the leas talented position on the team, and it doesn't help that we don't have any young receivers that looks like they could make a big difference in the future.

2. DE/OLB. Adding a pass rushing OLB would probably be more effective than getting a 5-technique, but if we can get a clear upgrade for the spot opposite of Ngata then that would be nice.

3. CB. All we need is a guy that can man-up opposing number one receivers. That's probably a lot to ask if we attempt to draft one, although Jimmy Smith would fit nicely with our corners. I don't think depth will be an issue for us at all.

4. LT. Like I said before I prefer Oher on the right side. However if we do bring back Gaither then we're pretty much set, but I would also look into bringing in another veteran if/when Gaither gets hurt.

5. C. Birk is on his last year of his deal next season and I think it will be his last in the NFL. We need a replacement for him and I wouldn't be surprised if the front office wanted to get one a year early in the draft so he can season for a year before starting.

The first four I listed are all interchangeable, we're going to have to do something at each position if we want to build a true contender.

yeah, referring to the d-line

I'm hoping Terrence Cody will be our starter next year at NT, replacing Kelly Gregg, but we'll just have to wait and see because of his weight and conditioning issues.

I don't think those issues will be a problem, and even if they are we have McKinney to take some reps there. Gregg will likely be back anways so I'm not sure Cody will have to play that much, even though I'd rather have him playing over Gregg at this point. Honestly I think NT is one of the most set positions on the entire team, and the DL as a whole doesn't really bother me outside of getting somebody opposite of Ngata. Redding isn't even that bad IMO, I think he's a solid option but I'd like to get a long-term solution. Preferably somebody in the Pryce-mold, a guy that can get to the passer from that position.

Aldon smith isnt a 34 DE. I would add another pass rusher to that list, we could draft someone and use him as a 3rd down specialist and groom him to 34 OLB after JJ. If Kindle gets healthy then we can rotate them, put Kindle at 34 ILB or something.

oh you're right, Aldon Smith is more a 3-4 OLB or 43 DE. My mistake

also if Kindle can ever play football, I would like us to put him at OLB and move Jarret Johnson to ILB. I think he'd be a solid fit next to Ray.
