Mizzou is not a better job. Purdue has better long term and near term performance. Both are upper mid tier in their conferences. The B1G wins out in performance cash and stability.
Remember Mizzou was all but begging to join the B1G for both the cash and more importantly conference stability.

Yup a sophomore, apparently around 5'7 give or take an inch. Put up like 39 on Selby as a freshman and some other crazy games, went for 58 this year I think. Figured if you'd seen him play your opinion would be interesting, supposedly has quite a following. Heard some things about a ridiculous vertical (46-48 inches) but not sure how true those are, tend to be overstated with HS kids. Wonder if he's got a shot to be a high major player despite the height.

One thing that sucks is I could have saved some money had I waited for tickets. Tickets have dropped a good amount since no number 1 seeds are in the Final Four.

Both Shaka Smart and Brad Stevens are apparently on the "short list" of coaches for Missouri. As a Mizzou fan I am torn. Our current roster is a better fit for Shaka's system, but I think Steven's is the best young coach in America.
It is thought that we could not attract Steven's even if we did make a big offer. Shaka might be a more attainable hire.

They're very close, but if you're a coach with no connections to either looking for a job, you take Mizzou. Better facilities, better backing for sports from the university, community, and alumni...
Mizzou wanted to join the Big Ten for football. The pretige of the basketball program has nothing to do with that.

I don't think Stevens should leave Butler; the NCAA just upgrade Butler to a better conference. They deserve to be in the Big East more than DePaul or Providence does.

Ya, absolutely. But I don't think they'll win. Would love to be proven wrong, though.

Why jump to the Big East when you have made the NCAA title game out of the Horizon league in consecutive seasons?

If Haith turns out to be a good hire, which is very doubtful, Alden'll look like a genius.
Looking forward to this press conference.

What a terrible hire. Alden owed it to the fan base and everyone involved to at least make a run at some the hot names. It really sucks that everything went down AFTER Billy Gillespie took the job at Tech. THAT would be a great hire.
The whole reason for not going after Shaka Smart (in theory) was that he has no familiarity with the recruiting territory. Well...Haith isn't much better in that category. That program is going to free-fall under Frank Haith and it will be a sad thing to witness.

So Haith has never been a good recruiter even though he was near a hot bed of talent and in the ACC, and in 7 years made the tournament once, awful signing if you ask me. I don't even think he's a good coach.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Mizzou fans raging on the radio today. ******* awful move. They went from getting a great coach in Painter to an outright dud in Haith when they still had plenty of other options.

Mizzou was never getting Painter. They got the level of coach that is appropriate for their stature. What hot name is going to head to Mizzou?
And nepg, this lame hire proved my point. Mizzou is just not that much of a
destination job for coaches. It's more of a stepping stone.
Also, if you don't think that the B1G money at purdue dwarfs the Big12 money at Mizzou you are misguided. That money is huge for all programs not just football.

Haith isn't a terrible coach but Mike Anderson was clearly a better one, they took a step down on this one I think, there was talent at the U.. so he could be held accountable for not being able to make it work.
