More bad news for Notre Dame...
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/c...,3185959.story
Quote:
A 19-year-old Northbrook woman died of an apparent suicide nine days after telling University of Notre Dame police that she had been sexually attacked by a football player in a dorm room, the Tribune has learned.
Elizabeth "Lizzy" Seeberg, a freshman at neighboring St. Mary's College who had battled depression, apparently overdosed on prescription medication in her own room during the third week of classes in September. The player, meanwhile, has remained on the field.

Tribune didn't release the player's name.

That's crazy. I'm all for letting the justice system take care of things like this, but I'm shocked in today's media it took this long to even get mention of.

More problems for Notre Dame, and Michael Floyd.
Fool.... this is his 2nd incident with alcohol and bad decisions in the past year.
Why did he stay in school? Now he faces a suspension which will lower his draft stock more for next year, while he doesn't get paid anything in 2011, and might not get to play.

.019? That's hammered even for a world class athlete.
With his past rcd. of drunk offenses why didn't the school assign him some handlers or keepers to take his keys when he gets shitfaced? I thought all the major programs do that now.
Then the $77,500 fine yesterday, the max allowed by Indiana law, on ND for the Declan Sullivan death last Fall, 2 very embarrassing ND stories in < 48 hrs.

Looks like Floyd's not done at ND. Word is that ResLife (the group that enforces ND's Du Lac student policy when there are violations) has decided to give Floyd community service. Now he's just facing the legal system and whatever punishment Coach Kelly dishes out to him.
I think this is a better outcome. Drumming Floyd out of school would show him nothing. Make him be repentant and be accountable for his decisions instead of casting him aside.

lets be fair here, this is just a spot where ND looked at his as a key football player. I still think BK will suspend him himself but thats a different point. I hope the punishment is pretty severe as he did make a very very bad decision and he should pay the consequense. I do get, given the timing that his punishment doesnt have to involve football games 6 months from now.

This is the Jim Tressel/Bobby Bowden/many other coaches school of thought.
If it is in line with how the school would deal with a normal student, then I'm fine with it. If it's special treatment, then it's bs.
