Default Fourm Mock

Ok i know a lot of Bengals fan would hate me for this pick I traded down with Dallas and picked up a extra 3rd. I tired to trade out of the 9th pick but nobody wanted the ninth pick i took Jake Locker.

I think Jay Gruden can do wonders with Locker i am higher on him then most people and not sold on Christian Ponder in the 2nd or Andy Dalton.

Took Baldwin in the 2nd thought he would be a good fit in Cincy and seems like a player they would take a chance on.

Have 2 3 round picks to adress the OL.

Here is my analysis on your first 3 rounds

Round 1 Pick 4 -trade- Now Pick 9

Glad you were able to get a trade because a player that we could really use could be had later on. However that player wouldnt have been Jake Locker in my mind. Jake Locker is a top 25 pick most likely and may even keep on creepin into the second round. However Jake Locker does have some characteristics that would fit well in a West COast offense. He is mobile, quick release, good at throwing and the run, and can be a very accurate passer. However this man is being compared to Jake Plummer and I wouldnt draft Jake Plummer with the number 9 pick. His stock seems to be dropping pretty fast in most eyes and with his inconsistent play coupled with a lack luster off season I truly think he is a 2nd round talent. This doesnt mean Im sold on someone like Ponder (who had a shoulder surgery rather recently) but just means Im not sold on Locker.

Grade - D+

Second Round

The trade was another nice edition. Though could have drafted Baldwin in the spot you were currently and would have been ok...instead you got an extra pick and still a good WR. Baldwin has the strength and ability to be a good fit for the new Cincy offense. He doesnt have elite speed and may not be a homerun threat but he certainly can make plays happen. Plus he may go in the first round so you have a good value here.

Grade - A

Round 3 Pick A

Clint Boling

Not a bad pick here as we def need some Guard help. I see in the draft he is listed as OG/OT but I only think he will translate to OG. However a few things are of note here. Marcus Cannon, Mikel LeShoure, and Will Rackley are still on the Board. Why take Boling here? Cannon could very well be a starting right tackle for the team, Rackley has been on a complete tear lately and LeShoure should have been drafted in the first round. However Boling is not a bad pick and 3rd round is not a stretch in any way shape or form...he could go in the second as well so value is right on track.

Grade - B

Round 3 Pick B

Mikel LeShoure

Alright, LeShoure finally comes off the boards. A little surprised, did people forget about him or something? O well good for us. LeShoure has decent hands and keeps his feet moving. Great pick in the third round.

Grade - A+

I took Locker in the 1st just wanted to be a little different and wanted to shack some things i do like Locker and i was trying to trade down again from #9 but no one was bitting. But i do think the Bengals will take AJ Green if Gabbert and Newton are off the board.

Baldwin i felt was a Bengals type pick and and i think he fits great in a WC offense. I traded down again because teams were trying to trade up and get what QBs were left on the board and there was really not a run on WRs in the 2nd so i knew i coluld get Baldwin at that pick.

Boling i took just because i am a big fan of his. Cannon could have been the pick but if the Bengals are going to keep Andre Smith they wont need another OT/OG type that cant stay underweight and healty. If they did not have Andre Smith i prolly would have taken Cannon.

In this Fourm Mock RBs have been sliding a lot i think there are some good RBs still left in 5th round. I was either going to get Ryan Williams or LeShoure with this pick but Ryan Williams came off the board so it was a easy pick to make.

In the 4th i got
DT Terrell McClain South Florida
S Ahmad Black Florid
if u would like to chime in on those picks.

Im on the Boat that the Bengals are not interested in Gabbert at all and all the Newton talk is simply a smoke screen. I am very unimpressed with the QB's this year and wasnt all that impressed last year as well. I only liked 1 QB last year...Sam Bradford. This year I can't say I like any.

The Bengals will more than likely stick with Smith. I dont think he will pan out. He lacks the work ethic and can't stay healthy. Is a shame really.

Its really odd that the Running Backs are slipping like that...great value to be had late.

As for Terrell Mclain, he would very well be a typical Bengals mid round type pick. However the Bengals have like 6 DT's on roster and he would likely either go to practice squad or replace someone like McDonald. I think if the Bengals go with a DT at all this season it will be a First Rounder that would immediately start. So basically Mclain would be fighting for a backup spot at best (unless he goes out there are wows some people).

Grade on Mclain - C+

Ahmad Black is undersized. Other than that he is perfect. He is the Kinda safety I think Zim looks for. He can lay a hit and plays real physical. Plus late 4th is a nice place to grab him. He plays good for a safety thats only 5' 9"

Grade on Black - A-
