mmmhmmm. :)

So much fun. I just hope they get better voice actors for their next game. Heavy Rain has like 95% French voice actors and it's pretty noticeable. I cant stand Ethan Mars' voice and his wife and kids'. And Norman Jayden's voice is like a mesh of 5 different accents.

I'm still finishing up Heavy Rain for a second time, myself. I need to finish before L.A. Noire comes out on Tuesday. Shouldnt be too tough...I'm really far into the game.

I finished Uncharted 2 last night and it now has my spot for my fav non sports game of all time. I just cant get over the graphics.

I'm surprised they aren't releasing rookie ratings early this year. I am interested in seeing how Newton and others are rated. I am thinking...

I love that madden has redone alot of head coach 09's off the field stuff. I was expecting that when Josh Looman guy was in charge since he was the one who worked on HC '09. I might have to buy buy football games this year.

He's had 2 years to do it and it's still been pretty crappy. I don't expect Madden 12 will be any better.

Anyone ever upgraded their ps3 hard drive?
I'm looking to upgrade mine here in a few days when my drive comes in.
I've done the reading and looked at youtube videos. Seems easy enough.
Only question I have is... this FAT32 format my ext HD has to be that I'm going to be backing up all my PS3 files into.
I've read that you can only format 32gb at a time. My question is...
if I format my external to FAT32, do I lose everything on it? Should I back up everything on my external first?
Also, I'm pretty sure I have a 40gb HD on my PS3... Will 32gb of FAT32 be enough to fit everything?
(My PS3HD is completely full and I know when something says it's XXgb, it's always less than what it's advertised as)

Anyone have they want to add to that... let me know...

yes, formatting to fat32 will kill everything on the drive. you can format over 32gb, though not from within windows. see post one at: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...tition-585701/

why would you install a new hard drive with lower capacity? that's not an upgrade at all. i've replaced mine with 500gb, but i really only bothered because the worthless, poorly coded heavy rain installer broke the original.

in any case, the most difficult part of replacing it is getting the original drive out of the enclosure. in the end, i had to use needlenose pliers to get the screws off, because the spots for a screwdrivier head are too shallow and prone to stripping.

My hard drive is 40GB and I'm replacing it with a 250GB
I guess I worded my question wrong.

Essentially, I'll be using three hard drives to upgrade my PS3.
The original one in the PS3 (1), the new one (2) and an external HD (3) to backup all the files from the PS3 ... hard drive (1)

I've read that you have to format hard drive (3) to FAT32 to be able to save all your ps3 files from hard drive (1) onto it.
Replace hard drive (1) with hard drive (2) and then use hard drive (3) to restore all your files.

My question was, will 32GB of FAT32 space on hard drive (3) be enough to save all my PS3 files, if the 40 GB hard drive (1) is pretty much full?
I want to avoid having to create more than 32GB of it if possible since the more steps involved, the better chance I have of ******* it up.

i have no idea. once you plug in the external, move over what you can. if there's not enough space, i'd guess that there are game installation files all over your ps3 HDD, i'd just dump those. it takes 5 minutes to reinstall a big game. i'm not actually even sure those are back-up-able to an external drive.

not true, afaict. i've saved files off mine onto a standard USB key. worst case, reformatting a 32gb external drive to fat32 is easy. and since you're worried about filling it up anyways, you'd have had to remove everything from it to begin with.

again, who knows. but i guarantee that most of that 40gb is not save files and things worth keeping. just reformat it in windows (since it's small, it's easy), move your save files onto it, flip the ps3 hard drives, get the ps3 to boot back up, reinstall games, restore save files.

thoughk, honestly, you may need to plug the new hard drive into your actual computer to format it. when i replaced mine, just plugging it into the ps3 did nothing, because the drive was unrecognizable (either formatted wrong, or for some other unknown reason i didn't bother with figuring out).

what i'm saying is, if you're not confident in your IT skills, bring over a buddy who is. though the process can be fairly easy, i ended up spending 3+ hours on mine, with a fair deal of hacking around things. and i wasn't even bothering with trying to keep any files from my original hdd.

Hopefully the 2 games rumor is free bc I dont play much online anyway so i havent even missed it.

Good call. I guess most of that space is the actual games anyways.
All I'd want to save is the game saves. I can upload the actual games onto the new hard drive afterwards.
I own only 5 games now anyways.

I'm getting Infamous. I don't really want any of the other ones so I'm not sure. Maybe Dead Nation? Or Super Stardust. Not LBP or that racing game.
