Seasons....so thats about 4 or 5 years from now...and thats if Martin writes at least 1 book every 2 years and if they make that many seasons.

I'll believe it when I see it (A Storm of Swords on TV). I don't know how they can produce that on a TV budget.

Book 5 just came out and book 6 is (supposedly) the final volume.

It will be interesting. They cut Tyrion's battle from the show, but no way they can cut the Battle of the Blackwater.

Agreed, they really can't cut that thing out, I'm trying to think of places they can cut but nothing comes to mind. Red wedding has to be a pretty long scene as well.

GRRM is set to write that episode, and it's named after the name of the battle!

I might've been wrong about my original stance because HBO said they learned their losses from cutting off Rome early and won't make the same mistake twice. The 2nd season would really have to bomb for them to end it there. The question is really "how will they structure aSoS for TV?

It's not a foregone conclusion that there will be 7 books. There's a lot off speculation that there will be 8.

Well the dragons are part of the second book, they just don't affect the story much. Perhaps that's all that was meant, they were included(the statement sounds more geared towards those who didn't read the books).

??? Dany's entire plot line is based around the dragons in aFfC. They'll be on camera a lot and talked about a lot but there's only 1 scene where they actually do anything, which is understandable considering their youth.

Exactly my concern. Too many of these guys turn awesome stories into rambling nonsense instead of wrapping it up in 6 or 7 books. I haven't even bothered checking on the wheel of time in years b/c it became so unreadable I just didn't care when the next book would be released.

Maybe I will pick it back up, as I've already read through all but one of the terrible clunkers Jordan wrote. IDK, 800+ pages for "Knife of Dreams" will probably just renew my desire to punch babies.
