Lightbulb College Football thoughts....

What a performance, they are even better than last year and are big time competitors in the SEC. They have a very solid defense, tough players, linebackers can run and defensive backs can tackle. On offense they are multidimensional with a power running game in Ballard along with depth at the position, Relf can throw and pass with the best of them and speed on the outside with freshman Lewis proven player Chad Bumphis. They will be tough to beat in the SEC that is for sure.

As much as I hate to say it, they will be hell to beat. With that running game and that offensive line blocking, Russell Wilson is going to kill people at quarterback. The boot leg options they will have and with his arm, Wilson will easily be one of the best quarterbacks in the Big Ten and probably is already one of the most talented quarterbacks that school has ever had.

T. Mathieu, B. Mingo, Spencer Ware, Mike Ford, C. Faulk, S. Montgomery, Eric Reid, T. Simon, Mettenberger....What a special class of sophomore players, wow they are extremely elite and have such talent. These young players in combination with their other star athletes will make LSU a national title contender without question. Very impressive first game, the power they can run with and that secondary is much improved.

No one is talking about them, but wow they played one hell of a game at USC. They got beat a lot by Woods on the outside, but stays aggressive, kept their head in the game and continued to play hard and not give up. They did not run the ball as good as they hoped but they have potential, and Shortell came on and really played well. Have a much improved secondary with Stoudemire becoming a decent corner prospect. Very impressive game for coach Kill and one can already see the change and their improved toughness thanks to him and his staff.

A Michael Vick type performance turned in by RGIII. Very impressive game he put in, that offense was really explosive. The defense was horrible but if Griffin can keep playing up to that level, it might not matter.

Coach Richt is a fine man, but he might be done at Georgia. They did not play tough and showed they have a pretty average defense at best. Where are all the athletes and playmakers for this team, and the fact they consistently cannot run the ball is crazy. Especially when they have supposedly talented players at key positions. They will really have to turn it around, Boise State is good but one would think they could dominate the line of scrimmage on defense more than they did.

The only thing Georgia has going for them is that the Boise State game was non conference and they have SCAR upcoming this Saturday in Athens. They still have a real chance to win the SEC East, but the two toughest games they play are back to back to start the season. Richt is hanging on by a thread here, and if they fire him I think they will do so at the end of the season.

Man, every other team in the country has to be licking their chops with Richt on the hot seat. He's just had a bad run of other teams getting a hot new coach, stealing recruits, and going on insane runs. I think UGA would be silly to dump him. Show some loyalty.

I'm sure Vick would have been just as effective as Griffin playing in the spread so prevalent in today's game.

Well, Vick is in a variation of a spread now. Imagine him 12 years less mature as a passer.

In terms of statistics yes, but Vick had a rocket arm at Virginia Tech and Griffin can come no where close to Vick in terms of ball velocity or overall athletic explosiveness on the field. Griffin is improving however, just not sure he has the arm strength and effortless touch Vick had.

It's not even close. Maybe in terms of accuracy and decision making, Griffin may have the upper hand. Vick had pretty bad mechanics when coming up with a little bit of a wind up.

Without a doubt, Vick was just something out of the ordinary. I will give Griffin that he's more 'polished' as a passer for sure.

They are legit, wow what a talented football team. Athletic as can be on defense, can really run to the football and get after the quarterback. Outstanding front four. On offense they are explosive as anyone, super star freshman Sammy Watkins is the real deal and could be a possible ACC offensive player of the year. Does it all on the field, then you have arguably the most athletic tight end in the nation with Allen. Boyd is much improved over last year, and ontop of that they have at least three or four other very solid receivers much less a decent ground game with numerous backs. They will do more than just compete in the ACC, fine football team.

That defense might be in trouble. Very weak at the corner position, not much talent there at all, very small corners who are not physical. They miss Dennard more than most realize. They could have issues in the Big Ten that is for sure if their secondary does not improve. Look fine on offense though, almost an non issue, regardless of how Martinez throws the ball, they move up and down the field. Sadly same can be said for offenses that go against that non Black shirt defense.

What an impressive offensive line, big boys that can move people. They have outstanding guards in Bond and Cooper and very solid tackles as well. Have good powerful running backs that will take advantage of that line. Renner seems to be doing well as the new starting quarterback and he has more than a few weapons on the outside. On defense they are solid as usual with a very talented defensive line, great linebackers and solid defensive backs. They should have a good season despite all of the off the field issues before the season.

They look rough, not very talented at all at times and no clue why they were ranked so high to start the season. The quarterback situation is a mess, and the defense is the only thing that might keep them from being a really suspect team. Things could change when the suspended players come back, but not that much. Not a good showing for them against Miami at all.

They really missed Nick Moody on that defense, missing his toughness and coverage ability. That hurt them a lot in that game. Really disappointed with the running game as well, they were basically a non factor. Manuel played well but oddly enough the backup was more productive. Hope this year is the year they win the ACC, but they will have to work for it with so many solid ACC teams especially those noted earlier.

You hit Ohio State right on. They were ranked so highly become of program pedigree and tradition and the such. Really, they aren't very good. Even when the suspended players do come back, it's not like they become a perennial threat.

I'd love to see what you think of WVU after this weekend, win or lose. Hopefully a win.

West Virginia I am looking forward to see them. However if they beat LSU that will be crazy impressive. LSU is flat out loaded, damn they are talented. That defensive line is absolute killer and those defensive backs, easily one of the best if not the best secondary in the nation. They are lights out and if WV can move the ball on them that is impressive. I think LSU will power them to death though, that running game is solid, and with Shepard coming back the passing game should be improved....but again damn that defense is good.

Ohio State would be a top 5 team if they had Pryor and Tressel and co.
Bauserman is probably the worst starting QB we've had in program history.
They should be fine in future years though after they hire a full time coach and get through this rough season with a true freshman starting and a dead stick coaching staff.
