That's the first guy that came to mind when i was reading Borat's description. I miss that guy. One of the few Mexican pitchers to occasionally be good.

Well he's a CF but I wouldn't bat him leadoff. I didn't know if you would keep Torres as a 4th OF though.

I was just going to see if someone can send me the Mets chat they had today. Oh well. They charge to much for the online subscription.

No. The Royals were hitting him #2. He's an AVG guy, but not a very good OBP guy. Strikes out too much to hit in the first two slots. Best hitting in the bottom half of the lineup. #6 on a National League team with decent bats hitting in the right slots. #5 if your lineup sucks, #7 if it's really good. #2 was a terrible fit, but the Royals didn't want to move guys from where they were projected to be hitting in the future.
This should allow the Royals to move Gordo to #2 where he belongs and get Cain into the lead-off slot. Otherwise, I think we're looking at Gio hitting #2.

Not a bad move at all. Sanchez was incredibly inconsistent, giving up a billion walks every game and always on the DL. With Cain, Bumgarner, Surkamp, Vogelsong, Lincecum, and Zito, their was no room for Sanchez. If Cabrera bats anywhere above .250 it's an instant upgrade to the lineup.
Good luck trying to solve Sanchez's control problems and his 2 year old mentality.

Hahaha. Yeah. As far as "dumb ass move for Sabean" goes, this wouldn't even make his top 50.

Anytime the Giants can add a hitter and the Royals can add a pitcher, it's probably a good move for both sides.

Madson back to the Phillies for 4 years $44 million. He also has a 5th year option for $13 million.

Ok, this is too good not to share; Yoenis Cespedes may be a legitimate guy out there on the market...but his scouting tapes are all world.
Goldstien had a lot of fun with it.

Well, I posted the Goldstein breakdown first, so yay me. But yeah, that's what I get for getting too excited and not checking.

Being better than Perez doesn't make a player in any way valuable. It's a shame that this trade is getting any sort of attention. It's a 4th OF for a back-end of the rotation starter. Nobody is going to gain much from this, but both teams filled the more pressing need. Now, everybody can and should continue to not care about these two players.

probably the best way to look at it but I just figured a hard throwing lefty entering his prime with a high K rate would get more in return

Melky is still pretty young. It's not a bad trade or good trade, it's just fair value for everyone involved.

At this point, I'm immune to the Phillies overpaying.
