The conference isn't that weak (its not as bad as the acc or pac12) and they are going to a nine game conference schedule and a champ game. That's a rough go of it with one less cupcake than the sec.

Also you can't lose a game and get the benefit of the doubt like the sec does.

That adds up to a rougher go, IMO than Meyer had in the relatively weak mid 2000s sec east and tressel did with 8 conference games and no champ game.

by weak conference do you mean not the SEC? I won't get into this debate but the Big 10 most years (this is a down one as one of their top teams has been off) are just as good if not better than the Pac 12 (most years better) and who else is better than them? the Big12? laughable the ACC? not hardly I won't even bring the big east into this conversation

so at worst they are what? the 2nd or 3rd worst conference on any given year?

Agree. I think he took some kids with roo many character issues and kids that were athletes but not fitbawl players.

I also think the UF class rankings were over ranked because of the omg secspeed factor. Let's face it, those ranking sites know where their bread is buttered and that's the south.

Wrt osu I worry about the character issues meyer's teams had as osu doesn't need that now. JT had problem children but fewer than Meyer and cooper.

All of that being said it should be a great hire.

Ive just never been impressed with Big 10 football. Most of that comes from SC's reign of the 2000's when we would go to the rose bowl every year to play a hyped up Big 10 team and smoke them.

I will be honest that I havent watched a ton of Big 10 football this year, it was more of an opinion that Im stubborn to change. Ill admit that.

Our upcoming our of conference schedules are not going to be pushovers either. I know we have home and homes Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, UNC, Georgia, Cincy and Cal coming up.

Even with the 9 game conference schedule starting in 2017 I believe, we will still have probably 2 ooc opponents from BCS conferences every year, and one non BCS from Ohio.

Either way I can't wait till someone say this is official. This and beating Michigan this weekend would make this year not a complete failure.

No but your right, I'd actually consider Fickell's short coaching career a success if we beat them, then add the addition of Meyer and it will be an awesome season

His personality and methods turn a lot of people off. I remember reading how Washington wanted to hire him a few years ago, but after interviewing him the AD wanted nothing to do with him. Herd something similar with him interviewing at Maryland.

And he would not be a good hire for Penn State at this point in time
