I am a 33 Nord... Specialize in one handed axes, heavy armor and smithing.
I hate the fact that I have gotten this far to just have little things like this kill my fun. Yes I may be over reacting but I don't want to have 3 different characters to do everything because of glitches.

I'm only a level 19 Nord and I kind of did a little of everything. Which is why i want to start over and focus on certain things.

Can you do the civil war quests if you are not a Nord?

I am pretty sure you can do any quest as any race. You are just treated differently.

I liked being kahjit or dark elf in Oblivion since some people generally dislike you.

I havent started yet...but I'm always plain Jane in these things. I prefer to be human and a warrior/tank type. I've always preferred to play RPGs like this...at least in the first playthrough.
Oblivion I was a Redguard Knight.

I just killed a Dragon, ran into another Dragon that bit my head off right away... Reloaded from my save point to encounter another Dragon which promptly also bit my head off in the span of 15 minutes. Yup, I think I'm done for the day.

Been avoiding the thread for fear of spoilers, but is anyone else on PC having some of the issues with the latest patch being reported at the ES Forum?
I noticed after the update last night my mouse was all haywire. That was it really, and I fixed that by toning down the mouse sensitivity in the game. But people there are saying that the patch made the game completely unplayable for them. (certain buttons no longer worked at all in the menu, lock picking no longer worked, dragon fight AI was all messed up...)
Anyone else getting this? I really dislike that you have to play the game through Steam and it updates automatically. Other than two apparently broken quests that I fixed with the console, I didn't even notice any huge bugs.

Thats because you were smart and got it for PC. I tend to prefer to play games on my console and I should really have learned by this point.
But no, no major glitches since the patch.

I've been playing Elder Scrolls games since 8th grade and always for PC. Always. Mods rule and the console is soooo helpful for when things break. (In games of this scale, many things will break.)
I never for a moment even considered getting the game for the 360. If my computer couldn't handle Skyrim (it barely does, I can only play for ~2 hours at a time before it starts grinding) I was just going to wait for a "Old-blivion" type mod that would make it playable.
Plus, there's something magical about playing the game with your face a foot from the screen. I'd miss that on the 360.
Anyhow, I was just curious if anyone else was having problems. Not a fan of the auto-updates but it hasn't affected me as badly as it has some others it would seem.

Anyone have a really entertaining story about something crazy happening yet?
I can think of two that I thought were kind of funny.
The first was when I started the Eldergleam Sanctuary quest. This pilgrim named Maurice asks to go along with you. Figuring he was perhaps important to the quest, I brought him along. Fast traveled to a village near the sanctuary and as soon as we get there.....he runs off to fight something. Then, the battle music starts and I hear the roar of a dragon. The dragon lands in the direction he just ran and as I run over a small rise, I find him fist fighting the dragon.
I turned to run back to some cover and some guards from the village come to help out as well. We kill the dragon and I go to look for him....can't even find his body.
Poor fool. RIP.
This next one requires some spoilers:
