I feel people are overhyping Mallet tremendously.
There are plenty of NFL coaches who aren't draft nerds, and are coaches for reasons other than their ability to evaluate how well collegians will assimilate into the NFL. And the question here is not simply whether Ryan Mallett is going to be a good player, but that all things considered, the Patriots taking him in the third round was well worth the value because he pretty easily could've gone first or second and it wouldn't have been a big deal. You'd have had people saying he was a reach in the first, but really nobody is trying to say he should've gone even later than he did.

If Mallett didn't have those bad rumors I'm sure SF would had jumped all over him as his size and arm strength would of been perfect for west coast style of play . Some PA here and there and hes a great QB in that system. I just would have my hopes he would of landed in SF sit for a year while A.Smith plays then he would of been in the right spot to take over. but what is done and we drafted CK. I just hope he can pan out and a pocket guy he has all the other tools there. .
