Ninja edited you. Marty actually replaced Norv in Washington.
But watching what happened in SD is just....laughable. Absolutely laughable.

Probably not too bad at all. If Norv went in there and won Superbowls, people would ask "well why couldn't Marty do that?"
Luckily for Marty, where he simply failed in the playoffs, Norv fails to even get to the playoffs.
And I got the craziest feeling of deja vu writing this. Weird.

Brian Daboll would be a real solid hire. I've been very impressed with what he's done when we have played his team. He has a background with some of the people in that organization and has done real good things with Peyton Hillis and Reggie Bush. I'm not sure if Miami plans on bringing him back or not, but with a new head guy coming in there he projects to be available.

Joe Philbin's 21 year old son was reported missing Sunday night, after having not been seen since Sunday morning at 2:00 AM (glad nobody ever reported me missing when I was on a bender...).
Frequently when young adults that age are reported "missing" they're perfectly fine and don't even know that they're missing. Hopefully that's the case.
UPDATE: A young male fell into a river at 2:30 AM in that area and couldn't be rescued. No identification yet. Even if it's not Philbin's son, this is a terrible tragedy for some poor family.

Brian Van Gorder (Falcons DC) has gone to Auburn to be their DC. I'm elated. You're next Mularkey.

You should be careful what you wish for. BVG is highly respected and has a good track record.

As for SD, firing Greg Manusky was a step in the right direction. He was one of the worst DCs I've seen.
He basically ran Cover 4 every play. Like, literally....every play. He was awful.

You don't have the personnel in the secondary to run what you want to run.

This is true as well.
Atlanta's problem isn't coaching. They just lack playmakers on both offense and defense. They're a blue collar tough team, that wins you 9 to 10 games a season but gets you eliminated in the playoffs bc you lack difference makers.
And that's exactly what Atlanta is.

Del Rio and Mike Smith are very similar in their coaching philosophies. In the 6 games in which Derek Cox was healthy, they ran a ton of man free and man press with one-man linebacker pops, and the defense was spectacular (the Ravens game, most notably).
The Falcons are starting Dunta ******* Robinson. The Houston Texans LET THIS MAN GO INTO FREE AGENCY.

Mike Zimmer interviewing with Dolphins today. Also Jay Gruden denies having contact with Jacksonville Jaguars.

Firstly, this is a total non-sequitur.
Secondly, I don't love it, I just don't have an irrational dislike of it as you do.
And stop being such a troll. Seriously. You're an intelligent person. Act like it.

Follow-Up: Andrew Brandt is reporting that the body found in the river was that of Joe's son, Michael Philbin. Terribly sad.

From watching the NFL Network today, it seems like all signs point to Tampa hiring Mike Sherman as Head Coach and that the interview with Brad Childress is to be apart of the staff as Offensive Coordinator and maybe Mike Nolan as Defensive Coordinator.
Thoughts?

It's from La Canfora and I learned to never trust him. I'll believe it once Schefter (or any other "inside" guy) talks about this.
That being said, this is a terrible coaching staff. The only competent guy is Mike Nolan who runs the 3-4, which doesn't fit our defense at all.

That...sounds...horrible. Nolan is going to try and install a 3-4 defense and Chillyball on offense is...awful.
