Buccaneers Announce Head Coach: It's Marty Schottenheimer

Coach Marty joins the team after years spent on the side line. Schottenheimer was run out of town in San Diego for his teams consistent failure in the playoffs, although he did amass a substantial win-loss record during his time in San Diego. The Buccaneers hope he can bring that winning attitude with him to Tampa Bay.

Raiders Announce Winston Moss as New Head Coach, Darren Perry as Defensive Coordinator

New Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie has announced the organization has hired former Packers assisant Winston Moss as the new Head Coach in Oakland. Moss, a former Raiders LB, has been one of the hot commodities for teams looking for a Head Coach, and it is expected that the 3-4 defense will be brought in with Moss.

The Oakland Raiders are also announcing they are bringing in Darren Perry as the new Defensive Coordinator. Perry has been coaching the Packers secondary for the last few season, and already has coaching experience in Oakland when he was hired in 2007 as an assistant.

The offensive staff is still being put together, and Reggie McKenzie and Winston Moss are debating on if they want to bring in some more of the Packers coaching staff or potentially keep the Raiders current OC Al Saunders for another season.

Bears Name BeerBaron GM, Announce Cuts

The Chicago Bears have announced that they've concluded their GM search, naming young up-and-coming candidate BeerBaron to the position.

BeerBaron is a no-nonsense guy who believes in great defense and building the offense around Jay Cutler.

"This guy has all of the tools of a franchise QB and we need to surround him with better talent, particularly in protecting him," said Baron in his press conference.

He also announced that two players have been cut from the team: RB Marion Barber and WR Roy Williams.

"Marion cost us a game with his mishandling of a late game carry and simply didn't bring enough to the table in a day and age of the NFL where you need your RB to run, catch and block," Baron said of Barber.

"For Roy, it was the drops. He looks like he runs on two broken ankles and he simply cannot catch passes consistently," Baron noted with Williams.

General Manager Gonzo1105 had this to say about his San Francisco 49ers:

"Well I tell ya we are thrilled to be sitting one game away from making the Super Bowl when no one gave us a chance at the beginning of the year" explained gonzo1105.

"With that said as the General Manager of the San Francisco 49ers, I feel it is necessary to make sure that the long term structure of this team is in place. We obviously have a great coach in Jim(Harbaugh) but we have a lot of solid players that are set to hit the open market that we need to lock up." We really want to keep DaShon, Ahmad, and bring back Carlos if the offer is right as we feel they are key to the continued growth of the 49ers organization.

We are locked into negotiations with both Ahmad and Carlos right now and we expect to get these deals done to keep them 49ers for the forseeable future.

Driver Returns!

In an amazing turn of events Donald Driver has come out of retirement and back to the Green Bay Packers. It is being reported that the Packers GM contacted Driver after the NFC Divisional Game loss to the New York Giants where the Packers receivers had 8 drops collectively.

It is also being reported that Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson have been placed on the trade block in what seems like an emotionally charged decision, due to the poor performances the two put up in the Divisional game.

The Packers will be looking for high compensation when trading Greg and Jordy, however due to time restraints it seems as though other teams will have the leverage when it comes to negotiating.

Brian Xanders fired, DBNYDP is named new GM of Denver Broncos

In a shocking move John Elway has announced that the Denver Broncos will be terminating GM Brian Xanders after the Denver Broncos suffered a massacre against New England this past weekend. Stepping into the GM role will be the young, intelligent, and very handsome man known as DBNYDP.

In his press conference DBNYDP stated, "We are very proud that the Denver Broncos made the playoffs this year after a 4-12 season last year, but we hope to bring this team to even greater heights next year and for the foreseeable future."

When asked about Tim Tebow, DBNYDP answered, "I believe Tim Tebow was asked to step into the starting role earlier than expected, and showed flashes of being a very good NFL QB. We believe with a proper offseason with Adam Gase and John, that Tebow will greatly improve his skills and will be ready to take a much bigger role in the offense."

"Our priorities right now are to make sure that this young defense gets more talent and veteran presence. We also feel that we need to add some more weapons on offense as next year, this team will see a departure from a heavy-run offense, and more of a balanced offense modeled after the great Shannahan offense's of old," said DBNYDP in the press conference.

Denver Broncos trade for AJ Hawk

Broncos announced last night that they traded a 4th round pick to the Green Bay Packers for ILB AJ Hawk.

On the move DBNYDP stated, "We felt two of the major problems this year with our defense that really diminished the efforts of others was the poor play we got from our middle linebacker position and the lack of communication and veteran leadership. AJ is an experienced veteran linebacker who is going to come and really improve the play of others. He's a solid tackler, solid in coverage, and has great instincts. We feel he'll be a very productive starter for us and also serve as a great mentor to Nate Irving our third round pick from last year who can use some seasoning."

AJ told reporters, "Green Bay was a great place to play and I'll miss my teammates but I look forward to playing a major role in Denver, one of the upcoming teams in the league. Also making fun of my brother-in-law, Brady Quinn, daily makes it one of the most appealing places to play. I look forward to bringing this great franchise a 3rd Championship."

Bears Announce Long-Term Deal with RB Matt Forte

Bears new GM BeerBaron has announced that the team has worked out a long term deal with RB Matt Forte.

"We're pleased to have Matt sign this deal. He's a valuable member of the team and he figures very much into our future plans," he released in a statement.

The team originally used the Franchise Tag of Forte while they worked out a long term deal.

Forte has emerged as one of the most complete backs in football the last few seasons. He missed the final several games of the year after suffering a knee injury, but was medically cleared by team doctors before signing.

The deal is expected to make Forte a top 5 paid RB in the league.

Free Agent Leroy Hill was not resigned by the Seahawks and they instead have drafted Luke Kuechly out of Boston College to help them with their defense. David Hawthorne is expected to move back outside next year with Kuechly playing at ILB.

Bills select Sanders with 1st Round Pick

After trading down in a blockbuster with the Tennessee Titans in Thursday's 1st Round, the Buffalo Bills selected Zebrie Sanders, a senior offensive tackle from Florida State. Sanders is the highest rated Senior tackle prospect and the 4th highest overall tackle at his position, ranking behind Junior prospects like USC's Matt Kalil, Iowa's Riley Reiff, and Stanford's Jonathan Martin. The 6'5'', 307 Sanders played exceptionally well in his Senior year, rising up many draft boards into 1st Round consideration.

"We're elated to have Zeb aboard and in a Bills uniform," said General Manager Fischbowl in a news conference Thursday. "The personnel issues on the offensive line was a big task for us this offseason, and we hope Zeb becomes a fixture and a pillar at tackle for years to come."

Sanders will be at One Bills Drive within the coming days. The Bills also announced the acquisitions of former Tulane OT Troy Kropog and recently cut OLB Erik Walden. Both are expected to fill depth roles on the team.

Raiders Send DT Desmond Bryant and 5th Rounder to the Bengals for the 95th Overall Pick

The Raiders have been trying to move back into the draft by offering some of there players, and they finally found a buyer with a familiar team. The Bengals are that team, who earlier in the season sent Carson Palmer to the Raiders for at least 1 1st round pick, are now sending the 95th pick(3rd Round) to the Raiders for Bryant. Bryant is a young rotational player at DT/DE and has made significant strides in his young career. Oakland is moving to a 3-4 defense though, and they feel they are loaded at DE, and needed to move a player to free up space for some new players.

The Raiders are still not done trading, and are willing to trade players like Jacoby Ford, Richard Seymour and Tommy Kelly....

Patriots make Virginia CB Minnifield top pick

The New England Patriots traded out of the first round two times yesterday and finally made their first selection in the draft: Virginia cornerback Chase Minnifield, selected with the 40th overall pick. Minnifield is considered a long, athletic cornerback prospect projected to start on the right side. The selection of Minnifield suggests that New England is planning on continuing to play Devin McCourty at safety, with Minnifield and former Cavaliers teammate Ras-I Dowling starting on the outside. The Patriots have a number of picks remaining in the draft, including three more selections in the second round and two third round picks.

Bears Select Ingram, Sanu

With the 19th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft's first round, the Chicago Bears looked to bolster their aging defense with the selection of South Carolina pass rusher Melvin Ingram.

"Some of our key defensive players are getting up there in age and it's time we start bringing in some young talent on that side of the ball. Melvin will boost our pass rush and give us a threat for opposite Julius Peppers," Bears GM BeerBaron said in a statement.

Ingram has 10 sacks in his final season as a Gamecock.

But Chicago wasn't done there. They aggressively tried to move back into the first round and did so, getting the #27 pick in trade. There, they selected Rutgers record-breaking WR Mohamed Sanu.

"Mohamed was just so productive at Rutgers. He brings good size and athleticism to the position, something we are seriously lacking. He should provide Jay Cutler with the #1 target he's been missing during his time in Chicago," noted Baron on Sanu.

Sanu caught 115 passes for over 1200 yards last season as a Scarlet Knight.

TIM COWLISHAW

The Dallas Cowboys surprised no one today when they drafted heavily on the defensive side of the ball.

The unit was in need of a vast infusion of talent and youth after they were lit up down the stretch last season as the Cowboys eventually fell short of a playoff spot.

"We were just really looking to change our attitude on that side of the ball for this upcoming season and we feel these two guys can not only come in and compete for starting spots right away, but they can also complement the rest of the talent on defense to make them even better," said Cowboys GM CashmoneyDrew.

Michael Brockers was a standout defensive tackle for LSU during their championship run this season. The monster 6'6" 305 pound lineman selected with the fourteenth overall pick projects as an end in Dallas' 3-4 scheme.

The Cowboys were not done there, however, as they traded back in to the end of the first round and selected North Alabama corner Janoris Jenkins with the thirty second overall pick.

Jenkins is not without his question marks though, as he was kicked off of Florida's football team after his junior season for multiple incidents involving Marijuana.

"We felt like we took the necessary steps in checking out Janoris' past and making sure he's learned from those instances, and after doing our due diligence we feel like he has learned from his mistakes and that it won't be a problem in the future," said Drew.

From here the Cowboys have a fourth, fifth, and seventh round pick remaining in the draft.

The team could still look to trade back up in the draft again and is rumored to be shopping tight end Martellus Bennet around the league as well.

Denver Adds Defensive Tackle and Tight End in Draft

The Denver Broncos made an expected move and drafted Mississippi State DT Fletcher Cox with their first round pick. It is widely known amongst scouting circles that Broncos GM, DBNYDP, was infatuated with Cox in the weeks before the draft.

On his new defensive tackle, DBNYDP commented, "We are absolutely thrilled to have Fletcher on our team. One of the major needs we had on our team was a penetrating defensive tackle. We feel that not only does Fletcher add a playmaker to the interior part of our defensive line, filling our biggest need, but also was the best player available when we picked. He has really impressed us with outstanding athletic ability and an excellent motor, which we felt made him a player that could truly be a gem for our team and be one of the biggest playmakers in the league. I have no doubt that we made the right decision, we look forward to watching Fletcher develop into one of the best defensive tackles in the league."

In the second round the Denver Broncos avoided several need positions and drafted Coby Fleener, the tight end out of Stanford. It was a controversial pick with several GMs either praising it as an excellent move or a move that wasn't a very good decision.

On the move, GM DBNYDP stated, "We were simply stunned when Coby was available at our 2nd round pick. Before the draft we had Coby as sure-fire 1st rounder and were even entertaining the possibility of drafting him in the first round or trading up to get him. A QB's best friend is a tight end who can bail him out of tough situations by providing a matchup nightmare for defenses. Fleener is exactly what you would want out of a tight end. He has excellent hands, a big frame, a great catching radius, and excellent athleticism for a man his size. He's going to help our offense by not only being a major playmaker/safety valve but also just by his presence which will free up other receivers. The fact that he is also a great blocker is going to add more versatility to our offense. We think with Fleener and last year's draft pick Julius Thomas, we have a potent 1-2 punch at tight end and makes it very hard for defenses to match up with us."

Needless to say several members in the Broncos organization are very optimistic for the future and commend the job that new GM DBNYDP has done.

John Elway stated to the media after Fleener was picked, "We are very happy with our draft picks and the job that our GM, DBNYDP has done. He has the organization feeling very optimistic about the future. To be honest on my off-days I where a DBNYDP jersey because he is so awesome."

Patriots bolster defensive line with two Tigers

New England capped off the draft's second round by choosing two Clemson Tigers to upgrade the defensive line: defensive tackle Brandon Thompson and defensive end Andre Branch. Both players are appealing for their versatility between 4-3 and 3-4 defenses. Thompson projects as a starter inside next to Vince Wilfork and at 6'2" and 310 pounds has the bulk to occupy double teams, while Branch is an accomplished pass rusher with the size (6'5" and 260 pounds) to play either defensive end or linebacker. With their final second-round pick, the Patriots traded out of the 2012 Draft in order to secure an additional first-round pick in 2013 from the Dallas Cowboys. New England currently has two third-round picks and can go in multiple directions with the picks although continuing to move around the draft board is a possibility that can never be ruled out.

Packers add more defensive talent

On the second day of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers drafted defensive end Jonathan Massaquoi, Troy, and inside linebacker Lavonte David, Nebraska. After trading up seven picks to #53 the Packers drafted Massaquoi, who will undergo the transition from end to outside linebacker in Dom Capers 3-4 defense. The Packers had already expressed an interest in getting a player to put opposite Clay Matthews III and improve the pass rush that recorded only twenty nine sacks over the course of the season, with Matthews leading the team with six.

In the third round the Packers drafted undersized linebacker Lavonte David out of Nebraska. David, weighing in at only 225 pounds he will have to add some bulk in order to play inside linebacker on a 3-4 defense, where he will be responsible for taking on guards at the line of scrimmage. In 2011 Lavonte leaded his team in tackles, with 123 and was a contant force on the defensive side of the ball.

Raiders Introduce 3 Draft Picks; Announce New Offensive Coordinator

The Oakland Raiders came into the 2012 NFL Draft with just 1 3rd Round compensary pick, and another pick in the 5th round. New GM Reggie McKenzie stayed busy though, and was able to make moves that landed him 2 3rd Round picks and a 4th.

McKenzie first was able to pull off a trade with the Bengals send them DT Desmond Bryant for the 95th pick, which was then traded with WR Louis Murphy for the Raiders to move up to the 73rd pick. There they selected DE/OLB Brandon Lindsey from Pittsburgh. Lindsey, a 2 year starter while in college and totaled with 22.5 sacks in his career. He is expected to play OLB in the Raiders new 3-4 defense, and could see playing time early in his NFL career.

The Silver and Black then drafted DT/DE Kendall Reyes, from Connecticut with their compensary pick from the Eagles signing Nnamdi Asomougha last off season. Reyes was an impact player tallying 11.5 sacks and 32.5 TFL in his career. Reyes looks to be a fit at DE, where he will be able to learn behind Richard Seymour and see some time in the rotation on the defensive line.

Oakland finally wrapped up the draft by selecting OG Brandon Brooks from Miami(OH). They got the 102nd pick by trading Tommy Kelly, who has been grossly overpaid while in Silver and Black. Brooks is a huge player at 6'5 340lbs, and could fit in as a developmental LG/RG for this team.

The Raiders have also annouced the hiring of former Packer QB Coach Tom Clements to be the Raiders new Offensive Coordinator. Clements has helped develop Aaron Rodgers and Matt Flynn, and is ready to take on the task of possibly coaching Terrell Pryor. Clements will join Winston Moss and Darren Perry as the big name Packer Assistants to come to Oakland, and Reggie McKenzie will be very happy with the work he has done.

Addressing the Bears Offensive Line Situation

To the surprise of many, the Bears have yet to address the offensive line thus far in the draft. One of those who isn't surprised is the team's new GM BeerBaron.

"Obviously, if you look at the past several seasons, the offensive line has been one of the team's weakest areas," Baron said in an interview during the draft with the NFL Network coverage team. "It was something we were definitely looking to address if the value was right. It's just that with the way the draft fell, I wasn't seeing players who would be clear upgrades."

"We'll be getting Gabe Carimi back from injury and he is absolutely in the plans for one of the tackle positions. Lance Louis performed extremely well at RT late in the season even with the injuries to our best offensive players. His play really stood out and he'll be granted the opportunity to keep that spot. I envision a scenario where Carimi competes with incumbent J'Marcus Webb at LT with the loser backing up both the LT and RT positions. It's an area where we have a little flexibility which is always a good thing."

Baron would further elaborate about the interior o-line. "Roberto Garza moved inside to center last season and played well enough to be given a contract extension by the previous GM. Chris Spencer also really gave a boost to our run game at RG."

Asked if he would consider adding o-line talent through the remainder of the draft, Baron answered "absolutely, if the value is there."

When asked about the picks made so far, Baron seemed very pleased.

"We were sitting at #19 and I was deciding between Melvin [Ingram] and some of the WRs available. I felt that the depth at WR was better and that we could afford to wait at the position, so we chose Melvin. We feel that he's a very smooth athlete and will contribute to our pass rushing corps for years to come. Adding some youth to the defensive side of the ball was key for us in this draft."

Later, the Bears would trade up for WR Mohamed Sanu. Said Baron of the move: "We passed on a WR at #19 because we felt like we could get one a little later. Guys like Floyd and Jeffery came off the board, so we looked to trade up. Sanu was the next guy on our list and a guy I felt could be a real difference maker at the position. He has great size and was prolific in college at catching passes. I think Jay [Cuter] will have a great time with a reliable target like Sanu."

Finally, towards the end of the 3rd round, the Bears made their most recent pick of the draft. "Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs are two great, great players and we hope to have them on the team for as long as possible. But both guys aren't exactly young men anymore and, like with Ingram in the first round, we needed to add some youth and depth to the position. That's why we went with Bobby [Wagner.] I love his intangibles and he's a brilliant tackler, something that is seriously lacking in today's NFL."

The Bears have one more pick to go in the 4th round, but Baron wisely wouldn't reveal any of his potential targets.

Patriots draft Fuller and Jones in third round

The third round of the draft has come and gone, with New England spending their two third-round picks on offensive players: Texas A&M wide receiver Jeff Fuller and Georgia center Ben Jones. Fuller was a four-year starter for the Aggies who caught 70 passes last season; he adds a new dimension to the Patriots' receiving corps. with his size (6'4", 225 pounds) and strength. Jones is projected as a future starting center who plays with a mean streak and has started 48 games over his collegiate career. New England has one draft pick remaining, number 111 overall.
