So...
Jackson
Boesch
Prince
Cabrera-for some reason Leyland refuses to put him 3rd
Young
or Boesch-Cabrera-Prince? or something else?
I mean they brought Magglio back to plug the 3rd hole so Cabrera could clean up last year..

I think Red Sox fans have already jumped off the ledge. I know I have. Just a real head scratching off-season in addition to a horrible finish to last year. I think we'll still score plenty of runs next year, but it's hard not to feel like we have fell behind as you mentioned.

I'll be shocked if he fell off that quickly. He'll only be 30 and 31 years old in the "middle years"

The Red Sox have speed. I'd kill for Ellsbury or Crawford. The rest of the bunch isn't bad either with Pedroia, Youkillis, Ortiz, etc. They'll be right where they should be in the playoffs.

I think the Tigers should try to sign Juan Pierre to a dirt cheap deal.
I'd much rather have his speed and better defense in left field than Delmon Young now that his offensive production isn't needed as badly.

Everybody thinks that he'll turn into that, but...he's heard every single critique about his dad and would probably shoot himself before becoming like that. Heck, he tried out being a vegan. He's watching himself and trying.

Terrible deal for the Tigers. It'll be a great offense for the next three years or so, but Prince is not going to age well. He'll be 37 when his deal is up and with his body he'll probably start breaking down around 32 or 33.

Tigers just need to make sure Fielder doesn't fall down the dugout steps
God I hated Moo Vaughn

Jason Beck of MLB.com writes that it "sounds like" the Tigers will use a rotation at the corner infield spots following the signing of Prince Fielder, including using Miguel Cabrera at third base on some days.
Music to the ears of fantasy owners. With the prospect of third-base eligibility, it's going to be very difficult to resist drafting Cabrera No. 1 overall in mixed leagues. The 28-year-old has 383 career starts at the hot corner, but hasn't played there since his first season with Detroit in 2008. Interestingly, Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Tigers had Cabrera get into shape to play third base this offseason, just in case. He'll also log likely log plenty of at-bats at designated hitter.

people in fantasy leagues will love that. Miggy Cab with 3B eligibility? Damn

It may take 2 months for him to get it though. He'll have to log 10 appearances (at least in most leagues) before he gets it because he didn't play there at all last year.

Lest you all forget, Cabrera will be only a temporary fixture at 3rd. Unless Nick Castellanos really gets derailed, he'll be in the majors and starting by 2014. Then you can dump Martinez and have take over at DH.
Anyways, here's my projected lineup:
1) Jackson
2) Boesch
3) Fielder
4) Cabrera
5) Young
6) Avila
7) Peralta
8) Raburn
9) Santiago/Worth

Love the move. So whats the consensus from other fans, Tiger fans in particular. One word on your feelings.

I just don't like the long term implications of this, and the fact that the Tigers continue to ignore their much bigger needs.

Who says we're done though? Hopefully we sign Pierre to lead off. What other needs to we have? Middle relief is still a need, but our top 4 starters are solid.

Big bats are hard to find. We've now grabbed 2 of the top bats in consecutive years. (and Cabrera not long before that...and Magglio) I love the aggression. We've got the middle of the order set, the rotation is fine, I love our closer, bullpen should be alright, and we have some infield options now. I just hate our overall team speed and defense. If they do as Xio suggests and maybe grab Juan Pierre over Delmon Young then things will be easy to fix.
And I don't even care if its Juan Pierre, just a "Juan Pierre" type. Cheap, quick, improves our range in the outfield.

That came out of nowhere. It was all Rangers/Nats/Orioles talk, then the Tigers just swooped. Best 1-2 punch since...Braun-Fielder last season lol.

That's right when Mo Vaughn fell off. Checking the OPS+ numbers, he went from 153 OPS+ at age 30 (1st year of new contract) and then couldn't get over 120 OPS+. The man just ballooned and lost his ability to play well.
