A few summers back, I had my hours cut pretty badly (recession and all that) so I needed a another job and applied EVERYWHERE that would give me an application. I even tried a couple of restaurants but those that replied back all said they wanted experience.

How the **** does one get the experience?

I eventually got a different job at the same place I had already been working, but it was because one of my favorite coworkers quit, so it was bittersweet.

It's like some sort of horrible loop. "We only want people with experience..." "Can't get experience because they will only hire people with experience..." How the ****?

I applied for an associate producer's role for G4's Attack of the Show in December. They wanted 1-2 years experience. I hadn't had a job yet but I had a year's worth of writing, editing, shooting, etc. for my university's TV station. I was really hoping they'd go for that, but oh well.

I wanted to be. Guess I'll have to wait until get a year or so of experience and try again then.

Doesn't Nashville the capital of country music have any opportunity? Sure you may not like it, but you gotta suck it up and take the crap experience you get. And then over exaggerate things you did on your resume.

Or, if you have to, work an internship in the industry you want to get into while you do a crap part time job for money. I have a friend who delivers pizza while he works an internship at the place the Penguins play in Pittsburgh whose name escapes me at the moment...they apparently highly prefer to hire their interns when they have actual job openings and that's what he wants to do.
