If someone is a Sept 1st call-up, they are eligible to be kept as a minor leaguer.
If they are on a major league roster before Sept 1st, they are not and either must be kept as a major league player, or are eligible to be drafted. This was discussed before the draft started and charm was fine with it.
If you're confused, just go to the minor league rosters. If someone isn't there, you can draft them.

The significance of Sept 1st is that is when rosters expand to 40, and lots of players are called up just to get a sniff at the majors.

Charm. I was holding off because I already have a lot of OFs, but I didn't think he'd get back around to me. Apparently marshall was paying attention because he said he almost took him.

I was told I couldn't keep him as a Minor Leaguer (even though he might start the year there) and couldn't warrant keeping him over Kipnis or Adam Jones. I felt like if he didn't break camp with the team I should of been able to keep him but w/e wasn't worth arguing.

Not about when they break camp, he played most of last year in the majors.
You also had about 8 chances to re-draft him.

so if the Angels say "Mike Trout is starting the season in the minors" you get the flexibility of putting him there, and drafting another roster spot? Seems like a loophole but w/e
I know I could of re-drafted him, but he has no value as a 5th OF, his value is as an amateur player, and I'm positive that's where you'll be putting him. Again it's w/e I'm not worried about it/ gonna argue about it.

"Most of the year"? He played 40 games in the majors. They shouldn't have even called him up before September. I know the rules and understand the rules, but it kind of sucks for Charm. Besides, you probably won't even keep Trout anyways as a MLer with the guys you have.

I suppose it's a loophole, but I've been pretty clear that you can draft whoever the hell you want so long as they aren't on someone else's roster. You can draft someone in Japan or Mexico if you want, so long as they exist.
Everyone will be drafting one player for their minor league rosters. You can do that whenever you want. I did it in the 8th round because I though Trout's future value demanded it.

This is pretty much how I feel, I wasn't allowed to keep him as a MiL but he will start the year on BF's MiL roster. It's an exploited a loophole, so it's not against the rules, so there isn't much I can do about it. It's a cheap move but also a smart one I guess.

Still pretty ****** because I wasn't allowed to keep him in the same role you are starting him out in.

How is it cheap? You could have drafted him at any point.
Everyone benefits from certain loopholes. Simply from sucking, djp has been able to acquire Albert Pujols and Robinson Cano in the last two years.

Let's not kid ourselves. The entire setup of this league is a little peculiar.

If we could have just kept our minor leaguers through ESPN and not through this thread, we'd be fine.

Of course it is. It's an unconventional league. I just find this particular instance an weird thing to complain about.
On the minor league thing, I honestly have no idea how to do that. Especially because ESPN isn't the best about making players available.

I absolutely agree that it's a cheap move -- not to mention those first year draftees who were first come first serve last year a day after the draft where no one else got a chance to pick them up. Bundy/Hultzen come to mind. That said, it's not "against the rules" per se so you're kind of SOL.
Anyways, I'll go with Justin Morneau in some sort of desperate attempt in good karma.

I was specifically told I couldn't keep him as a MiL, and you drafted him as one. You're a smart guy, you see how it's cheap, I don't need to explain it. I'm ok with it though, just think it was a ****** (albeit legal) move, especially for the commish to make.

Holy ****.
You can draft a high school or college player WHENEVER YOU WANT. Do it now. Do it a day before the draft. It doesn't matter.
