I don't wanna seem like a troll but Titans do

RB - Ten
OL - Ten
WR - Draw(Moss is a wild card could push it in your favor but Britt is the only legit #1 WR of the bunch so idk)
TE/FB - SF

Peyton would go to SF because of the defense and special teams

The 49ers would still be the better team to sign with. If he wants to win a ring that is. If he wants to just be a figurehead and wave to the townsfolk, he can go to Tennessee.

And I don't see how the Titans have a better ground game. They were ranked worse than us in almost every major stat area if I remember correctly. And Chris Johnson this past season was a totally different player.

If Manning does end up signing here, what do you think of bringing in Dallas Clark???

I'll take my chances with Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker. No need to go out and get an over the hill veteran.

No thanks to Clark even though I wouldnt be surprised if they signed him and then traded Walker who's a UFA in a year from now.

And I read that article on PFT from King regarding Wallace. It'll be funny, the niners get Wallace but have no QB to throw him (or Moss, Crabtree, Davis and Manningham) the ball. LOL.

UGH.

Maybe before last year, but I don't think you can just assume the Titan's running game struggled cause CJ was out of shape. None of the Titan RBs played as well as Gore or Kendall Hunter.

Schwartz averages 16 yards per kick return.

Tolbert signs with the Panthers:

Niners will still pursue/draft a big RB to compete/take Anthony Dixon's spot IMO.

One thing about Schwartz, he's still young and does have potential. And if he does develop into a quality starter next season, you could now explore the possibilty of Kilgore at Center. It hasn't been talked about much but I remember Baalke after the draft last year commenting on how they liked Kilgore attributes and how that could translate at Center down the road.

Mort reports Manning to sign with Broncos. Alex must be on speed dial trying to reach the 49ers right now. But if Alex goes to the Dolphins we should trade for Tebow.

This week has done nothing but given fuel to everyone who hates Alex Smith. And now stuff like this. It will be really rough as an Alex-supporter.

Lock Baalke, Harbaugh, and Smith in a room together and play some Bon Iver to smooth things over.

Miami missed on Flynn and Manning; if they really think Alex Smith is the answer, good for them.

I support Alex but he takes a back seat to the chance to acquire Manning. It's a business of winning football games and Alex is very intelligent, fully capable to understand the situation and know he has to wait until the better player and top priority decides. It's not that the Niners didn't want him; it was that a 4 time MVP was available and he had targeted the Niners as a Top 3 destination. It was the 49ers responsibility to look into it as this situation was unique. Alex will be back and he and Harbaugh will continue to hug it out.

I believe and agree with this. My frustration is what I have to see and hear from the media and the Alex-haters, that had been calmed up until last week.

You nailed it. If this fanbase was rational this could be shrugged off in a few months but when you have tools like Larry Krueger (who's on KNBR trying to spin this against Smith) and Lowell Cohn it's going to linger for awhile.

Screw it. Alex has heard much worse during his SF tenure. Anybody remember "We want Carr" not too long ago? I though it was idiotic but there was enough of the fan base on board with the idea to start a homefield chant.

Smith will sign ASAP with Niners and Harbaugh will again defend him to the media and they will back off a little. Time for Alex and Harbaugh to hug it out and go to work out on the practice field so they can continue to open up the offense to a more sophisticated downfield passing game.

If I was Smith, I would retire before I go back to SF because its not even about the money or them trying to acquire Manning, its about trust and respect and in my opinion, everything Harbaugh built in 2011 is close to being gone and will be gone if Smith doesnt return.

Also, they seem to be beyond desperate by signing Moss and Manningham and then going after Manning. I'm sorry but everyone here has faith in Baalke and Harbaugh and after 2011, I would say I agree 100% but not as much now.

Everyone bashes Smith in regards to the passing offense but when you have a bunch of number two receivers, a focus more on running and the fact that Harbaugh wouldnt and didnt take the chains off of Smith and let him pass. Its not all on Smith. Its 50/50. People blame Smith but can also blame Harbaugh (and Baalke) just as much, if not more.

Regardless of what happens, its been a crappy off-season in my opinion. Too much drama and bullcrap that wasnt needed.

???

Um, signing Moss and Manningham isn't a desperate move. It's a move that can act as a bridge for the WRs who get drafted to get used to the pro game/system before challenging for a starting position. Getting Moss and Manningham is a better move than going into the Draft with Crabtree and Williams (how is signing Wallace not a desperation move in this case?).

Throwing tons of money at Manning would have been a desperate move (a laMIA, TEN). And from what's been shown via the media, there have been NO contract talks between Baalke and Manning.

Seems like everybody is making it out that the Niners went chasing after Manning when all Harbaugh and Baalke did was just go work him out and sit back. Manning didn't even visit the team facilities, something he did with Miami and Denver.

Yeah this season could be a disaster. Then again, Alex has been through a lot more in this city, he usually responds pretty well. I'm just glad we have the same team as last year, with some upgrades.

It IS about the MONEY. It IS about the opportunity to acquire Manning. Trust and respect exist but loyalty is rare in business and this league is a BUSINESS. The Niners had an opportunity to significantly upgrade one of their few positions where they don't have an elite player WITH an ELITE player, a proven player and 4 time MVP. They'd be stupid to at least not discuss and look into it.

If the Niners had pursued another QB that wasn't of Manning's caliber like Flynn, then i could see Alex getting bent a little bit about it, but Manning is a Super Bowl champ and 4 time MVP. Any reasonable person would get it and Alex does. That's why he didn't sign with Miami yesterday.

The 49ers DO NOT look desperate with their off-season moves. Outbidding the Redskins for Morgan would have looked desperate; overpaying one of the FA WR's would have looked desperate. Re-signing Alex during the season for a Fitzpatrick-type deal would have looked desperate; the Niners are building their team the right way, through good contracts (not exceeding their value of players), rewarding players who've earned higher pay and drafting for value and depth, developing some stars within their system.

On Sportscenter Mort just said that the 49ers never had a contract offer sitting out there for Smith to sign.

Moss is 35 years old and when you take a chance on him, its nothing but desperation. Manningham to a lesser extent but he's just another second on the depth chart receiver and nothing special. Wallace would have been the opposite of desperation. A 25 year old playmaking WR who's here NOW and for the FUTURE. Moss wont be. Manningham wont be. Crabtree and Williams are 50/50. Come on. 49ers didnt need to go and turn a great season into a cluster****. Thats not how you run a team.

They didnt need to throw a lot of money at Manning to show desperation. Them going after him to begin with shows more desperation than anything because it shows their true feelings about Smith and yeah, I understand upgrading at QB with Manning but not after an entire year of Harbaugh pumping up Smith day after day. Makes no sense whatsoever.

Yeah, all Harbaugh and Baalke did was go to a workout and give him a physical. You dont do that unless you're interested in signing him period.

Manning WAS an ELITE player. No one knows how he'll do when he starts getting hit and is on the field and considering the contract he wants, signing him would be the complete OPPOSITE of what all you guys keep saying in regards to how Baalke does business. Seriously, you think Manning is going to take just a little more than what they offered Smith? Yeah right, good luck with that.

Sorry but I disagree in regards to them not looking desperate. Signing Moss of all people is the biggest sign of desperation. And in regards to how Baalke does business, why even look at Manning if you're not willing to pay him that HUGE contract and signing bonus?

Come on guys, seriously. 49ers have gone overboard and they didnt need or have too. Acquiring a top tier WR should have been their number one priority after keeping majority of their free agents. A priority that still hasnt been accomplished because if anyone thinks that Moss and Manningham are going to all of a sudden make the 49ers offense look like the Saints or Packers are sadly mistaken and I wouldnt be surprised if Moss doesnt even make it to September.

You dont think that they've been desperate but I do. To each his/her own.
