Bruce Irvin Arrested

Bruce Irvin arrested for destruction of property

Last month, former West Virginia defensive end Bruce Irvin ran very fast at the Scouting Combine, with a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash. Over the weekend, he apparently didn’t run fast enough.
Irvin was arrested late Saturday night in Morgantown for destruction of property, according to WVMetroNews.com. He allegedly broke a sign at a sandwich shop.
A pass-rush specialist whose final season fell short of expectations with only 8.5 sacks, Irvin’s performance in Indianapolis resulted in a surge in phone calls expressing interest in him.
More phone calls than, say, the two he was allowed to make late Saturday night.

Always amazes me how guys just can't manage to keep straight leading up to the draft.

He apparently doesn't have getting-away-from-the-cops speed.

Wow, is that a terrible article. Reaching for ironic stuff about being fast and getting calls. Sounds like the America's Most Wanted guy or Chris Hanson.

You mean the journalistic integrity of the great Mike Florio doesn't impress you? Guy is the very definition of a hack. I've got a 9 year old cousin who'd make a better journalist.
This is really, really stupid on Irvin's part though. I've been a big fan throughout the draft process (If you put him in a position to rush the passer, he could really help a football team), but there were questions when he didn't get invited to any postseason All-Star stuff. He tested well enough and seemed to be back on the rise, now this...Dunno where to place him. I had him as a second round kind of guy with Top 40 upside but who knows with the character stuff. Way too hard to predict.

I've been a fan of his in general as a third down pass rusher only early with the ability to develop into more but given his past history and now this, I think top 100 is out of reach now. Wouldn't be surprised if he didn't go til the fifth round or so now.

I know if I were an undersized DE prospect trying to get drafted into the NFL, I'd want to take out all my aggression on those smug sandwich shop signs.

I can see him falling to the 5th, undersized and doesn't really have any pass moves.

I hope this sign said "Patriots' Sub". I don't know if he is that good pass rusher but he registered 8 sacks as 3-5 DE. That is darn good.

22.5 sacks in 25 games of major college ball is pretty good.

No doubt this'll hurt his stock.
Running fast and having good finesse moves isn't everything, this guy needs to add 10 pounds in muscle and show power against the run.
That being said, I could see him slipping to the late 3rd/early 4th.

Whats the cutoff for getting-away-from-the-cops speed? 4.45 and below?
