I'm surprised we haven't heard more about that. It's a pretty big deal and I bet you are right, that's probably why he got an entire year.

My conspiracy theory is that the NFL encouraged the major media outlets to not talk about it.

I agree with this, sans there was little solid evidence to prove the pay was to "injure" as opposed as making the QB's valuable to motivate players. As far as punishments go, they are strict not because of any "intent to injure", but because they knew rules were being broken and they allowed it to continue.
I realize it is a tough pill to swallow, but it should have been stopped as soon as Payton found out about it, period.

So who does St. Louis hire to be their new Defensive Coordinator?

Dave McGinness gets promoted most likely if I had to guess.

For all the Saints fans I have to listen to at school and all the Jets fans I deal with at home, today has been quite an awesome day. Gregg Williams should never be allowed back in the NFL and I doubt he will be.

I mean, losing our coach for a year sucks, takes us out of contention for the big game.
Could be worse though, we could have signed a terrible QB to a 3 year deal and be stuck with no chance to win a superbowl in those 3 years.
I'll count my blessings I guess.

Right...because the 49ers just had you know...zero chance to win last year.
Speaking of quarterbacks, Drew Brees sign that tender yet?

So the Saints are in trouble, their coach is in timeout, and they basically wasted away their first and second round picks from the 2011 and 2012 Drafts. I'm really sorry to hear that...

purely speculative, but what happens if the interim head coach wins the Super Bowl?

Yea, zero chance. I was hoping Colin Kaepernick would get his chance, maybe offer a glimmer of hope.
At least 49ers and Vikings fans know that the Saints won't be getting in the way of a championship that their teams already had no chance of winning!

Brees is too good to lead the team to a top 10 pick.
