Yeah, maybe to evolve Shiver's idea, it could be the first to 6 points wins. That way, you get a TD, you win. You get a FG, you don't, and you'll have to kick another one.

Or if the first team gets a FG, the other team gets it, and if all they can get is a FG, it's a tie. Or they have an XFL-style 1-on-1 race from the goal line to midfield between 2 players, and then whoever gets the ball at midfield has to try to score. And if you get tackled by the other guy, you lose the ball. Yeah.

This is is seriously ridiculous. If a defence cant step up and force the O to punt, they shouldn't win the game. If we gave each team a possesion, we would be dragging out the game. Honestly, people are whining that there O never got to see the field, maybe the team should have won it in regulation. There is nothing with the system, your team is just sucks when it really counts.

Exactly...that's what I've said from the beginning. All these alternate ideas are stupid, I can't come up with one that's better than how it is and pretty much no one else can, either, from what I can see...

this is the stupidest argument i've ever heard repeated over and over. if you can't play both sides of the ball, you have no business winning, period.

I like how a lot of people are conveniently ignoring this point. Any change you make has the potential to give one team a benefit over the other. The system that the NFL has employed has gotten as close to 50% as you're ever going to get. It's been closer to 60% as of late, but that's because of where they've been spotting the ball on kickoffs, and they're planning on rectifying that this offseason.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is if it's not broken, then why try to fix it?

They should make them play the whole entire over time period but make it a shorter period, like 10 minutes instead of 15... It would be great for fantasy owners...=0)
