Generally on TV today you have to have some story and character progression. Community generally lacks that. At first it did. Jeff is this guy who is an ex lawyer who goes to Community College to get a degree so he can be a lawyer again. The show quickly forgets this. The show also quickly jumps away from the relationships it creates...Jeff and Britta, Jeff and Annie, Troy and Annie, Troy and Britta... what they give in return of actual character romance is kid like glances and sexual tension that has very little to do with anything. The only one with a relationship outside the group anymore is Shirley.
Furthermore, Chang is a great and needed character...he was greatest in Season 1 when he was their teacher (an evil teacher) but lost almost all his charm when he became the sniveling whiny little guy after his wife left him. His character was murdered and has only slightly regained back to its original self recently when he was made a security guard...however still under utilized in this part.
Do they even go to class anymore?
John Goodman? what the heck happened here...they may have actually had a good storyline...however it ended up becoming a two episode thing that revolved around Troy either becoming an air condition repair guy or a plumber...of which he became neither...
At first I very much enjoyed Community...though here in Season 3...I only seem to tune in to see if Annie is going to do something hot. In all honesty Im not surprised it may not be renewed...
I hate singing episodes and thus didn't enjoy this one very much at all but the Annie scene was amazing, will add, even Brita looked hot in the skin tight catsuit thing at the end.

I still enjoy Community but you make a lot of good points. I think the writers are just kind of dicking around, maybe because they don't think the show will last so they're not putting a ton of effort into development. Instead they're just doing funny stuff that is entertaining and easy.
That was by far the funniest Britta has been in a long time. When she handed Jeff the drink and was like "This is who I am" I was howling. Also, Troy wearing Pierce's dead Dad's fake ivory hair in the Dreamtorium had me laughing pretty hard as well.

Jesus..... I just don't...why? Was it a joke or was he seriously chanting **** chevy.
EDIT: just read the article and listened to the voicemail he left Harmon. Losing chevy would really suck especially after the show has been doing so well.
Honestly, if there is any character the show can lose and still function, it's Pierce.
I've also read that Chevy is awful to work with and has been dating back to his SNL days. Good riddance. If the show gets picked up for another season I hope he isn't on it.

I think Chang is worse, but I agree losing Pierce would not be that bad.
I think if they were gonna lose Pierce, they missed the perfect chance to do it last season, but maybe they wrote it into the end of season 3. And I agree Chang is more tolerable now, but honestly I think it's because we see less of him now. I think that would be in jeopardy if Pierce left.
I think the show would lose alot by substituting Chang for Pierce in the study group. The dynamic probably wouldn't be the same, but I've always preferred Chang on the outside of the study group looking in.
Also, Chevy Chase has been a disaster to work with for decades in Hollywood. I would have thought the showrunners would have been prepared to handle some drama on his behalf.

Chang has only been better because he's been used less. They just write him terribly. He is too over-the-top. I liked him as a snarky asshole Spanish teacher. The whiny pathetic loser weirdo Chang is just obnoxious.
If anything I've thought Pierce was more tolerable lately.
Chevy might be an asshole to work with, but it's hard for me to blame him in this situation. Harmon is definitely the one in the wrong here, chanting **** you Chevy in front of his family and a huge crowd is pretty low.
