Sapp's broke
I don't understand how guys like this go belly up! He must of made 50 million in his day. Whenever he talked about money it sounded like he wasn't one of those dummy's that wasted it on anything. It's nuts!

I don't feel sorry for any professional player (especially one who was so successful) who goes broke. If they weren't smart enough to make wise investments, buy property or something, then that is their problem.

I don't wish bad on anybody, but this gives me a smile. I hate Sapp. How he's on NFL Network blows my mind. I know they love ex-players but you can get a dozen other players who actually can contribute and say something smart without choking over their own spit and screaming "lead the pack uh ants to duh picnic!!"
I also second what Caddy said... how you don't still have multiple millions saved is beyond comprehension. Don't live like Donald Trump if your making 50 million. Live wealthy but not like a billionaire, and get a financial adviser. Not that hard. Also, he is clearly getting six figures from the NFL Network to talk about football for like 2 hours a week...
Again, hate seeing this on people as a human being but the fact that it's Sapp puts a smile to my face lol. Ask Tony Romo for a loan..

I had a spat with Sapp on twitter a few months ago when he was talking ****. He ended up deleting his tweets when he realised what I was saying was actually correct and not the made up nonsense he was spouting.
Sapp also claims to have lost his Super Bowl ring. Well, he had it on Jan 22nd this year when Rich Eisen tweeted these photos from the NFL Network studios.

Now could he have genuinely lost it in the last 2 months? Of course, but this smells a bit fishy.

I don't disagree, as you used the word "wise", but many go broke because they invest and invest money into business ventures and fail miserably.
Investing money can also mean losing money. If a 401K wasn't safe from being erased in the last decade, no investments were safe.

Another former Buc, Chidi Ahountu, was forced to give up his SB Ring by a judge to pay for Lawyer fees. Sapp files for bankruptcy he knows what's going to happen to that ring, hell yea I would lose my SB ring real quick too.

Just put it in the bank... I don't need 50 million to grow. You'll make plenty more off TV and other endorsements too. It's a shame.

I love Sapp, always have. He was brash and bold and backed it up on the field. He gave the Bucs attitude, accountability, and a nasty demeanor. We need more guys like him right now.
That being said, I don't feel sorry for him.
As for his Super Bowl and Natl Champ rings: No shot those babies are lost. He would have had to surrender them because they have explicit monetary value that would require them to be confiscated by the courts. His lawyer told him to "lose them".
