Anybody still keeping up with Fringe? Friday's episode was pretty excellent. Finally, they're hitting the four episode stretch where **** always get's real.
I was reading this morning that they're likely to get a fifth season, but that it might be shortened and serve as a final chapter.

It was so much to catch up on so I just decided to watch it when the series was over. :(

I am also many episodes behind this season (I think I have 7 or 8 to catch up on). This season has been good but nothing special I have found. I still think the lysergic acid diethylamide episode was one of the finest episodes of TV I have seen.

I wasn't a big fan of season one. I found season 2 much better and about halfway through season 3 **** gets real.

Friday night is the death slot, there is no denying that, but Fringe failed to find a legitimate audience at the start, which hurt it. At the end of this season they'll be at 87 episodes, one shy of the "magical number" for stripped syndication, but one episode probably won't be that big of a deal.
WB is known to give shows away though, and they've done it in the past. Chuck is the most recent example, and if Community gets renewed (like a lot of people think) that will be another one.
At this point, I'd be shocked if Fringe doesn't come back for half a season, like the last season of Chuck. A 13 episode order that closes up (for the most part) the storyline and gives the fans an ending. And by adding an additional 13 episodes they'd hit the magical 100 episode mark. That would be cool and the radical / crazy Fringe fans deserve that much I think.

Something tells me that this season will be the end, but if they are given a 5th, they'll at least make it a more definitive end.
EDIT: the one ******* storyline that was never addressed was in one of the episodes Peter transports to the future and he's in some sort of battle in the streets of NYC but in the future and THEY NEVER TALK ABOUT IT AGAIN! WHAT THE ****?

The first season of Fringe was quite awesome, but the second couldn't really hold my attention. I was hoping for an X-Files sort of deal, but it really turned into something else entirely.

You think Dollhouse is better than Firefly, you're weird. Having just watched both again with my roommate, Dollhouse doesn't have a tenth of the heart and soul that Firefly does. Still a good show, but come on now sir...The only character even remotely comparable to someone on Firefly is Topher.

Yes it does. It has a beginning and ending arc, and it's a very emotional arc on the whole. Plus, all of the characters grow immensely and change in their short time. I'm sure Firefly would have accomplished that in a second season, but it wasn't able to in just one season. All it was really, was a collection of very solid episodes. I NEEDS ME AN ARC.
Also, Topher might be the best character in the Whedonverse. Him or Wesley.

Okay, nevermind, went back and skimmed through the Fringe episode I mentioned and the one after it. They did wrap that up, I just forgot about it.
That said, this season has been the tits.

It's Jubal Early. Even with only one episode.

I'm quite partial to both Mal and River, honestly. Topher is great and I think the Sierra episode is one of the best in the series (Especially from a morally and ethically questionable standpoint), but it doesn't quite pack the emotional punch of anything on Firefly. I think it's because the characters on Firefly are meant to be full measured, nuanced characters and so many of the people on Dollhouse are supposed to be...well, "dolls", but the Dollhouse characters just don't have the emotional impact I like from a cast. No doubt a solid show overall and Topher is the man, but come on sir...Firefly is just about as awesome as it gets.

Topher -> Wash -> Mal -> everyone else.

Wash > Jayne > Kaylee > Mal
