Ohio St. couldn't have got a better coach in there to recruit top talent. Not only will he own the state of Ohio, he will still pull his fair share of Fla kids.

Steve Miller, Noah Spence, Adolphus Washington, Tommy Schutt, Joey Bosa are 5 star DL we've signed since 2011....not to mention Mike Bennett who shouldve been a 5 star.

3* OH DT Brant Gressel commits to Iowa over offers from the MAC and a couple BCS offers. I know he probably wasn't on OSU's radar, but any of you guys know anything about him? From Centerville, OH.

Do you think this affects the decision of Jaylen Smith? Or is he essentially guaranteed to be at linebacker at the next level?

Jaylon Smith is and has always been a lock for Notre Dame. So no I don't think it has an impact on his decision.

I'm sure that's why he wasted his time visiting the last weekend of March.. While his brother is already here, and he has stated Mike Vrabel was his favorite player.
Yeah, ND all the way, we have no shot.

I don't think Notre Dame is a lock for Jaylon, but there definitely the team to beat. Don't underestimate Urban. Fickell and Vrabel are perfect recruiters for him too. Having the richest linebacker tradition in the nation plus his older brother on the team in the two deep at tailback can't hurt OSU's odds either. He's a linebacker all the way IMO, at the very least he might play the Nate Williams role, but he'll never be a full blown defensive end.

Lol wut? Since when has OSU had the "richest LB tradition" in the nation? It surely isn't because of anything recent (last 10 years), so maybe I'm just not up to speed on my OSU history if that's the case.

Gimme a freakin' break....AJ Hawk, James Laurinaitis, Matt Wilhelm, Bobby Carpenter......all all-americans......all in the last ten years. Not to mention Schlegel, Rolle, Homan, and Larry Grant.

Because that's what they hang their hat on. OSU has had elite linebackers through the years, but have been so good at DB, RB, WR, etc. they don't call themselves LB U b/c they, like Michigan, are always loaded everywhere historically.
PSU and USC have just as rich of a tradition there, but Ohio State's is obviously just as rich. Gradishar, Cousineau, Spielman, Tovar, Katzenmoyer, Diggs, Wilhelm, Hawk, Carpenter, Laurinaitis. etc. Doesn't get any better than that in terms of great college linebackers.

No, it's because they produce great linebackers.
I'd take Arrington, Pozluzny, and Conner over Hawk, Laurinaitis, and Katz anyday. And I'd certainly take Jack Ham over anyone that Ohio State can come up with.

I'm not talking about NFL production. I'm talking about college success. I don't care about that. Your rich linebacker tradition doesn't have to do with the NFL so much. Guys like Larry Grant and Sean Lee are better in the NFL than they were in college...while guys like AJ Hawk and Paul Posluszny were all time greats in college.

disagree completely. its all about success in the nfl to be called "linebacker U" and "RB U" and etc. if that wasnt the case then you'd see texas tech and houston and hawaii as the "QB U" and what not.
but i get what youre saying on the "rich tradition" part. although its still stretching it.

I'm sorry, but PSU is LBU, and if there is a team that comes second, it's USC.
Junior Seau, Willie McGinest, Chris Claiborne, Lofa Tatupu, Kieth Rivers, Brian Cushing, Rey Maualuga, Clay Matthews III, and that's just off the top of the dome.
