Probably my favorite player in my teenaged years. Would have liked to see him win, but 16 years in the league as a feared and respected player is quite a feat, in itself. Obviously had great passion for the game and I know he wants to stay around it. I wish him luck in his future endeavors.
One of my favorite players. I remember he stayed longer than any other guy after practice to sign footballs during training camp. Truly a class act. Ball's sitting in my room.

Eagles camp or Broncos?

Mike Vick said the hardest hit he ever took was the one Dawkins put on him in the divisional round game. Dawk was our Ray Lewis. Led this team on and off the field and he was just a guy you couldn't help but be a fan of because of the passion he played with. It's tough for me seeing this era of Eagles football come to an end. Dawk, Westbrook, McNabb, etc... were all players I grew up watching and are the reason why I am an Eagles fan today. It was hard seeing how emotional Dawkins got at his press conference today when he started talking about JJ.
Dawkins was absolutely the best thing about Eagles football through their deep playoff runs, providing the heart and soul that seemingly carried the entire team, and fanbase, along with him..it was definitely always a love/hate thing with the offense through the years as far as the fans were concerned and while McNabb was still always the face of the team Dawkins was the face of the city of Philadelphia and how we wanted to be represented on the field..
He's pretty much the Tebow of defense, but one of the best players that ever played the position....
I hope so. They need more safeties in the NFL. And it's not like there aren't any that aren't deserving. I think there are only three our maybe four now that Rod Woodson is in the HOF. Regardless, guys like Steve Atwater should be considered. Dawkins should get in. Unfortunately, I think the only guy that is going to be a consensus when it's all said and done and maybe first ballot even, is Ed Reed.
