So Rodgers is pretty much number one as of right now. Just to get that out of the way. So this should really be a top 99 list.

Like the idea. Down like the syndrome as a post draft exercise. It seems like it'd be too fluid to do during the season. Would Beanie make the list pre/post injury? Would Rodgers remain #1 overall after he breaks his leg in a freak fishing accident on his week off?

Yeah, I'd say no rookies on the list.

I'm also ok with waiting for the end of the season to do this as well just as someone mentioned it will give us something to talk about in the dead season.

It would also only be fair to the most recent draft class although I feel like Newton will be a lot higher than he should be.

I was actually going to start a top 10 thread for every position this weekend. So yeah, let's start with that.

I think waiting until the offseason to do this is much better. The rankings would be to fluid during the season.

Ok ill start. ive been thinking about this since this thread started: Does Peyton make this list? He didnt play this year. However he clearly is one of the most important players to any one individual team.

I think the Colts season has proved that Peyton is, arguably, the greatest player in the NFL. Injured or not. It will certainly help him in the Brady vs Peyton debates.
People who know the Colts personnel have realized for quite some time now that the entire team (offense and defense) was built around one guy, and the success of the entire team was predicated upon one guy. No other team in the history of the NFL has sat on the shoulders of one player and said, "Go win me a championship."
Freeney and Mathis are only elite players when they have a lead that Manning built. The offense is only the best in the NFL when Manning is the QB. The WRs and TEs are products of Peyton Manning. The offensive line has been atrocious and can't run block but routinely give up less than 16 sacks every season because of Peyton Manning. Every bit of the Colts success for over a decade was because of Peyton Manning.
Now there's proof.
It's kind of disgusting.

Trolls are at an all time low. The 2011 season is behind us. The draft is over. I think we've arrived at the perfect time to do this.

Would a position by positon top 10 work better at first and then we could fold that into a top 100 when all is done?

Yeah, that's what we intend to do.
I'll have no problem running this but there needs to be set guidelines. I'll leave the board to decide the majority of them as it's intended to be a board wide thing.
For example, no Players from the 2012 Draft Class (Luck, Griffin, etc.) What other criteria is there to note? I'm pretty sure it's as straight forward as it can get. Any suggestions?

I could swear at some point there was an idea to have a "panel" to take in the top 10 lists and then sort them accordingly. I was asked to do it but the PM has been loooong since lost.

We can have people send in top 10 lists based on each position. We can then rank them with #1 getting 10 points #2 gets 9 and etc. Then we tally up the points for the final ranking. It would have to be done through PM and I don't mind helping.

There was a panel idea at one point, and I'm still with that idea.
