My 8-8 prediction for the Ravens looks a bit more likely...
Still, it's always terrible to see a great player lost for the year. I never want to see anyone injured.

And it being an Achilles too...brutal. Those things are arguably worse than knee injuries because many players never regain their explosion/quickness/burst...all crucial things for a pass rusher.

I just thought of that too. If it says in his contract that he's not allowed to do things like that, they very easily could.

He'll probably be on the "Non-Football Injury List" or whatever they call it, and I don't think that they have to pay players who are on that list.
It seems like a lot of guys get injured playing pickup basketball during the offseason.

Wow that really kills the Ravens D. I'm sure it's in his contract so I bet they try to get that money back.

Wait, you mean our ancient offensive line and our ******** offensive coordinator won't be able to carry us to the playoffs now that we've lost what might be our best defensive player? SHOCKER!

Upshaw could be the starting rush LB.
Achilles surgeries can be career killers for defensive players, sometimes the player is just never the same. They're needed to run & turn backwards. Both Jamir Miller LB from UCLA & Cowboys Kevin Smith, CB from TAMU, & many more had their careers cut short by achilles injury & surgery.

I tore my achilles tendon in January and i'm back running already BUT yea...it's not the same at all, I still have just a slight limp. But with him being an NFL player, you're right that it's just not going to be the same player as he was before along with him going on 30

Suggs texted ESPN telling them it occurred during a conditioning test rather than basketball. Maybe he's trying to save himself the year's pay, who knows.
Achilles injuries take an average of 11 months to recover from, Suggs is shooting for October.
I don't think he plays this year and probably won't be the same player ever again. He turns 30 this year as well.
Step in, Courtney Upshaw.
