TBW, the 1.6 update and Dawnguard are just like sex, but slightly less slimey. Only slightly.

DAMMIT. I installed the 12.7 driver like you told me to Cain and that damn lighting problem is back. The "flickering square corruption." And it didn't seem to smooth out the game..ugh. lasdjfl;askdfjk;ladsfjlk;sjf

******* pissed. The actual game updates broke the game for me. I have a completely vanilla install of the game running right not, on worse graphic settings than I did when I was playing back in winter, and it's barely playable.

I think I'm going to have to say screw it. Maybe if someone releases an "Oldblivion" type mod for Skyrim, I'll be able to play it someday but for now, I give up. Don't even care about Dawnguard right now.

Bahhh... I'm sorry. I hoped it would help. I would say go back to your previous drivers uninstall the HD pack if you have it and try that simple boarderless window.

Give it one last go for the love of the Elder Scrolls!

I'm just going to cool off for a night. Even with the old driver, the problem went away but the absurd laggyness remains.

Do you have the HD texture pack that might be the culprit I think that came out after you stopped playing and I didnt think of it until now.

Is this something official or a mod? Because I'm running a completely vanilla version of the game right now (cleared data and reinstalled last night.) Version 1.6 of the game.

I don't think I ever voluntarily installed it previously. Nothing shows up under my "Data Files" right now.

I'm seven hours in so far and really enjoying it. The Thieves Guild seems pretty cool, I'm hoping the other ones live up to expectations. Which cities does everyone like in the game? I'm digging Solitude so far.

I use Whiterun as my base of operations just because it's the central location of the map. (Not as important with automatic fast travel...just a holdover from my Morrowind days I guess.)

Windhelm was always one of mine but that was for the house... I always switch between Whiterun and Riften to sell stuff.

Whiterun is also my operating base, but that's because you get Breezehome so early and I store all my stuff there. I don't have the energy to move all that stuff to a different location, nor do I care to spread stuff out between later purchased homes.

Solitude's probably the actual coolest city though. Basically all cities except for Solitude, Whiterun and Falkreath would be shitholes to live in, IMO.

If you are playing do me a favor go to Riften near the center market by the back door to "The Bee and The Barb" there should be a goat leg on a stump.

Does the stump look normal?

I am not, but is it purple? I know I've read before that a missing texture can make some stumps turn purple.

Yes... If it is purple you have the HD texture pack. Hence why I was asking. I don't know where it DLs to so that was a sure fire way to tell if you have it.

How's the Dawnguard DLC? Can't wait to get home next week and play it. For now, Morrowind will suffice. I'm level 27 now.
