Everyone says Semin to Detroit, but I just don't see it. He widely-reported lazy and unfocused ways won't jive well with Babcock. And as I said, if they're unwilling to bring back Jiri Hudler for 4 million/year, they're not gonna want Semin for 5+million/year.
We'll see. Maybe I've misread this.

I thought the same thing when we passed on re-signing Montador in favor of Ehrhoff for more money. But it turns out teams prefer good players.
Really, I don't have the first clue where Semin ends up.

Who is the first player to sign on July 1st? I say a fourth round type guy. Maybe someone like Brandon Prust.

Espn just had a headline on their website "Parise to the Rangers?" but the link had no story when clicked and has since been taken down.
I'm assuming that's total garbage.

Jordan Staal signs a 10 year, 60 million dollar deal with the Canes.
Edit: Also, Ryan Smyth resigns with the Oilers for 2 years, 2.25 million a year.

Didn't the Pens offer him the same deal? I guess he was set on going with his brother.
*Note I do not watch nor follow hockey just hopped in her for a second so please excuse my ignorance.

Yes, the Pens offered him that deal. When he rejected the Pens' offer, it was evident that he wanted to go play with his brother.

Damn. Would have loved a shot at Smyth. There was a ton of talk that he'd leave. Very reasonable deal.

Another damn. Scott Clemmenson supposedly re-signing with Florida for 2 years, 1.2 million per.
Wings need a backup goalie. There really aren't any good one.

The Wild have submitted offers for Suter and Parise, which isn't surprising.

2 years, 3 million total.
I love it. I wanted a legitimate backup goalie, and he was basically the only one who isn't WAY past his prime or just plain terrible.

Ken Holland, Mike Babcock and owner Mike Illitch have a 3:30 in-person meeting with Parise today, reportedly.
Side note: Am I wrong to assume it's extremely rare for a team's owner to go on recruiting visits with free agents? Illitch is 83 years old next month and he's part of the welcome party. Best owner in sports.

Terry Pegula likes to be super involved. People often like to point to him flying out to convince Regehr to waive his NTC last year as a measure of his dedication.

Oh, right. Pegula is like that, yes, but he's a brand new owner. Let's see if he still does that 25 years after buying the team, haha.

Paul Martin being used as a draw for Parise. Don't expect him to be moved out any time soon if Zach goes to Pittsburgh, Hines.

Looks like the Wings aren't going to the Newport offices anymore.

Ha, yeah I read that. If the Pens sign a defenseman, Martin is gone.

There's conflicting reports. I am not going to trust the info of one single source on Twitter.

Colby Armstrong to the Habs.
Also looks like Guillaume Latendresse is a Sen if he passes a physical.
