Everyone says Semin to Detroit, but I just don't see it. He widely-reported lazy and unfocused ways won't jive well with Babcock. And as I said, if they're unwilling to bring back Jiri Hudler for 4 million/year, they're not gonna want Semin for 5+million/year.

I thought the same thing when we passed on re-signing Montador in favor of Ehrhoff for more money. But it turns out teams prefer good players.

I love it. I wanted a legitimate backup goalie, and he was basically the only one who isn't WAY past his prime or just plain terrible.

Side note: Am I wrong to assume it's extremely rare for a team's owner to go on recruiting visits with free agents? Illitch is 83 years old next month and he's part of the welcome party. Best owner in sports.

Terry Pegula likes to be super involved. People often like to point to him flying out to convince Regehr to waive his NTC last year as a measure of his dedication.
