Agreed. The first season was fresh and innovative and genuinely funny. Ever since, the show has gotten painfully redundant, cliche and too sitcom-ish.

I disagree every show I've ever seen is formulaic to a certain extent. Even the greatest shows recycle jokes with new interchangeable parts. Psyche is one of the worst offenders of this but it doesn't get half the criticism that BBT gets.
A good comedy does not repeat such a specific set of jokes so routinely. Big Bang Theory is all about nerds that can't socially adapt and the awkwardness that comes with that. Two and a Half Men is a million fart, sex, emasculation of men jokes. Even on what is now a very average show like The Office, there's a broader range of comedic situations. They don't hammer home the same things.

And they can't even do that right. That's why the show is awful.
