This sounds funny coming from a 49ers fan.

I've felt the same way about Alex. Read past posts in the 49ers thread on what I have to say about him. It ain't pretty.

Where did you get that Bradford was the most pressured last season?

The stats I have seen will appear skewed because he played only 10 games and it's an accumulative stat. But when he was playing, the announcers would say he was the most pressured, hurried and sacked QB in the league at the time.

According to these guys, and other articles I read in reference to Eli he was the most pressured by a lot actually.

Bradford only played 10 games, so those stats are skewed. He injured his ankle running from a defender. Oh the irony.

137 pressure for 10 games. Roughly, 100 pressure plus from hitting 244. Can one pressure someone that many times in the remaining 10 games? Roughly 16 pressure per games for 6 games. It could be done. However, what it made worse for us was that we are one dimensional because our running game was dead last.

According to stats, my eyes and logic, yes. You've got a weak armed QB with a history of shoulder problems. He can't push the ball downfield so defenses don't have to respect the deep ball. He's injury prone and he plays behind an awful offensive line. He's unathletic and he can't escape the pressure that his sieve of an offensive line lets through. He's become skittish in the pocket. His accuracy is actually highly overrated in game scenarios; according to ProFootballFocus, the percentage of Bradford's throws that were "on target" (68.5%) ranked 25th in the NFL. His supporting cast is awful, perhaps the worst in the league. He is learning his third offense in three years at the NFL level. That's bad for development, just ask Alex Smith.

A lot of that isn't true. He's not weak armed, he doesn't have a cannon but he's got as strong an arm as Brady and Brees had when they were getting started and Rivers' arm still isn't any stronger than Bradford's.

He's plenty athletic, that's an absolutely absurd assault, at least with the arm thing he doesn't have a particularly strong arm, but he's a very fine athlete.

There is one throw Sam Bradford made his rookie year...I could have sworn it was a 51 yard TD right down the middle of the field against Seattle. I can't seem to find it, but dear god it was a gorgeous, gorgeous pass. I always wish I had the video to show to people who say he has a noodle arm, because it's a throw a very select number of QBs in the NFL could make.

Stil wondering why the NFL doesn't give us radar gun measurements on QB throws. Their fastballs.

We obviously get them for pitchers.

We get them in tennis on the big serves all the time.... Roddick at 135 MPH often, John Isner.... sometimes up to 140, even 150.
We get them on forehands occasionally..... the guy who took out Nadal at Wimbledon hit some forehands at 91, and hot one backhand at an amazing 99 mph.

We get club head speed on drives in golf, as well as golf ball speed off the face of the driver. Why can't they clock the QB's throws?

LOL @ Freeman having double the votes of Flacco

Because the actual speed is pretty irrelevant when it comes to a QB. Accuracy and finesse are more important. Joe Montana is a perfect example. I can thrown harder and further than Joe, which means squat.

My point was accuracy and touch are the keys, which I have neither throwing a football. A 40 yard bullet isn't a good pass when you have a d-line to throw over. Often times you have to have just enough arc to throw it over a d-line and LBers, but not too much to over throw your receiver. Joe had perfect touch and just enough arm strength. He will never be mistaken for Jeff George, Brett Favre or John Elway.

Just because you can throw a baseball well doesn't mean you can throw a football well. Doesn't matter how well you believed you pitched in college.

I swear I've seen throw speeds during the Sunday night games. Maybe it was distances though.

They used to have it back when Sunday Night Football was on ESPN years ago. But I think they stopped it around the broadcast because, well...who cares?

Oh wow, that totally proves that he can escape pressure and hits. Screw the fact that he was the most sacked and hit QB in football, he ran down one of the slowest safeties in the game once with an angle so he must be athletic.

Solid argument broz. I'm totally convinced now.

I'm not expecting to change your heart and mind right here, you're clearly a Rams fan. So sure, have fun waiting on Sam Bradford who is just WAITING to break out because he's sooo super talented and amazing. But when your team blows again this year and the year after that thanks in part to the fact that Sam Bradford blows chunks, remember who told ya first.

[quote=Rosebud;3052690]A lot of that isn't true. He's not weak armed, he doesn't have a cannon but he's got as strong an arm as Brady and Brees had when they were getting started and Rivers' arm still isn't any stronger than Bradford's.[quote]

I'm sorry but thats just laughable. The only QBs who I would put him on the same tier as in terms of arm strength are Matt Flynn, Ryan Fitzpatrick and maybe Matt Schuab. He's bottom of the league in arm strength, bottom third at least. Sure, he has "enough" arm strength but the rest of his tools are all mediocre too so they don't compensate for it. Could he get stronger in the future? Sure, whatever. But right now, his arm in comparison to other NFL QBs is like a wet noodle.

Quote:
He's plenty athletic, that's an absolutely absurd assault, at least with the arm thing he doesn't have a particularly strong arm, but he's a very fine athlete.
Maybe in the combine but from what I've seen on the field, his escapability is mediocre at best. Behind Eli, Vick, RGIII, Romo, Cutler, Rodgers, Big Ben, Ponder, Cam Newton, Drew Brees, Josh Freeman, Kevin Kolb, Dalton, Tebow, Locker and Matt Flynn in that regard.
