Same money as Forte but Rice gets an extra year. We'll see if it's more guaranteed salary.

Big signing for the Ravens. I'm always weary of giving that kind of money to a RB, but you can hardly argue that he doesn't deserve it.

Well I guess that explains why we didn't re-sign Ben Grubbs. 17 million in Year 1? Thats crazy.

11th hour signing. I wouldn't want my RB holding out of TC either, that's not a recipe for success.

I'm not a huge fan of giving a lot of money to RB's but Rice is one of the few that I would pay. He's so damn valuable to Baltimore in both the passing game and the running game.

**** yeah!!!! I so pumped that we could get him signed just minutes before the deadline. He is probably our 2nd best player and our most important offensive guy. Forte's deal probably really helped to get this one sorted out.
Still the best pass catching starting back in the league.

Really glad to see this got done just in time. I definitely see this contract being so front loaded as a good thing given that he is a running back and it makes it a lot easier on the team if his play falls off/starts battling injuries in year 4 and year 5 of his deal. I think that's the way you gotta structure the deal with running backs on their second contracts.

Wouldn't you think Ray Rice is your best player? I know your defensive guys are good, but they're getting old and I don't think anyone commands as much respect for the Ravens as Ray Rice.

Haloti Ngata is a better player and this is coming from a huge Rice fan.

Bingo. Terrell Suggs when not injured is probably a more valuable football player as well.

Forgot about Ngata for some reason, disagree about Suggs.
******* Browns swap 1 place with the Ravens to give him Ngata so we can take KAMERION ******* WIMBLEY.
God dammit.
Also, the Ravens would have sucked on offense without Rice, Flacco is good but not good enough to completely carry a team offensively.

Ngata is the rock that the defense is built on. You have to stop him first and he makes an impact in the running game and passing game.
I'd also say that Suggs is more valuable because a great passrusher is more rare than a great RB.
Although Rice saves so many crappy plays with his catches. It goes from a incompletion or 1/2 yards completion to a 1st down all the time.

The defense being old is a misconception. Yes, Ray and Ed are old albeit still playing at very high level. Suggs is 29 and turns 30 this year. Everyone other starter is 28 and under with four starters being 24 and under. Now that has nothing to do with Raymell but I'm just sayin'.

Huh?
I'm a huge Rice fan as a Rutgers alum but that's just ridiculous.
There's no such thing as a irreplaceable RB. Not even AP is irreplaceable.

Well AP is only replaceable because the Vikings have the best backup RB in the whole damn league.

There isn't exactly a stable of defensive linemen that can play DE or NT in a 34 front and make your entire front 7 better with his presence alone. Justin Smith is the only defensive linemen even close to Ngata right now. The list of RBs that are just as productive as Ray Rice is much larger.
Terrell Suggs, Ed Reed and Ray Lewis are better players than Ray Rice.
