The first sanction is literally what the death penalty is. "No football for a year".

If those are the punishments, does the Big Ten boot Penn State from the conference? No real historical ties to the conference like the other prominent programs in the conference. Would also have programs lined up to join.

Just meant that this will kill a program more than anything I ever even imagined. I don't really believe it'll be this bad till I see it somewhere from a credible source.

If there is no death penalty I might just stop watching college football.

Looking at it point-by-point, everything on the list seems plausible. We've already talked about most of those options in this thread. Taken as a whole, it would be the most devastating punishment in NCAA history -- which is fitting because this is the worst scandal in NCAA history.
I wouldn't have a problem with any of it, as long as the current players can get the hell out of dodge.

So the cool part is, we might have a new cheer at Penn State. I'm a Nittany Nation officer and I'm working on pushing the new cheer.

Might as well. Under those conditions, both the prestige and talent that Penn State would normally bring to the table would be completely lost. They would be a tainted team that couldn't even compete.

I just hope they willingly demote to DII (instead of FCS) so I can see the much-ballyhooed Kutztown v. Penn State rivalry come into effect.

Stay positive no matter what man. Work to improve the community and the attitudes that pervade it.
Make sure you push PSU to be the best it can be and do your best to ensure that something like this could never happen again at your school.
This is obviously a critical time at PSU and as such, students like you can push for real change and re-architecting of the power scheme at the school.

I'd be willing to bet someone like the ACC would pick up PSU. They'd see the future investment in terms of money and it could possibly help them try and bring in ND.
I wouldn't mind it at all, having PSU in a conference with Pitt, Maryland, VT, UVA, BC, and Syracuse would be great in terms of rivalry games. Then we could also end up playing FSU, Miami, Clemson? Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, that's for sure.

Penn State would be a great fit for the ACC and I'd assume the Big Ten would boot them if all of these things turn out to be true. They would bring virtually nothing to the table if all of these things happen.

That's actually how I would see that playing out. If the Big Ten boots Penn State, I think the ACC would grab them. Despite the loss of prestige, Penn State is still a name brand and offers great academics.
It wouldn't bring in Notre Dame, who I think the Big Ten would throw their entire might after to lure into the conference, but the ACC could lure in Rutgers or UConn.
This is all purely hypothetical but the Big Ten booting Penn State would start another wave of conference realignment.

Notre Dame would really be the logical addition for the Big 10. If they ever join any conference then it's going to be the Big 10, and the Big 10 would find a way to fit them in.

My thoughts exactly. The 2nd best conference fit for them is the ACC but they seem to be a distant 2nd behind the Big Ten, imo.

ND does not like the big 10 after they rejected them a long time ago IIRC.

ND has rejected the B1G twice before.

Notre Dame averages three Big 10 opponents per season (IIRC), and some of the rivalries (Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue) date back to the late 19th Century. For geographic and historic reasons, I'd be pretty shocked if Notre Dame joined any other conference. I'm just not sure how eager ND is to give up it's independent status.
Any possible beef between the school and the conference would only make it more profitable.

Depends on how hard the NCAA goes. If they did something like was mentioned earlier, the only thing left for the Big Ten to do is throw that out. If they go more lenient than that, the Big Ten would most likely just try to take some money away from them.

$60 million in fines, 4-year bowl ban, loss of 40 scholarships, all wins from 1998-2011 vacated, and probation.
