2012 London Olympics
With the Olympics starting this week, I thought maybe we should have an Olympics thread.
I'm kind of wondering if any of our British posters are going to try and attend any of the events.

I was thinking about starting this earlier today and forgot. Good work!! I can't for Friday even though with the time difference I think I'll be at work for when events are going on.

Some events (I think soccer) actually starts on Wednesday. I actually like the time difference if they show everything live because my Friday and Saturday evening are booked solid but I will be able to watch during the afternoon.

I was in London last weekend and the atmosphere seems pumped for it. Every street in the centre of town has something or other to celebrate.
I always look forward to the boxing at the Olympics and of course the athletics. Not the biggest fan of swimming etc but it will be good to see if Phelps can dominate again

No i'm not going. No one I know is going actually. They had this stupid system where you put your name down for tickets at all the events you want and you go into a pot for that event with everyone else.

Yeah that was kinda ****** up. Like I'm gonna bid on tickets for all events and hold out hope for the 100m final but end up having to go to men's volleyball or something. And, they are saying you have to be there two hours early for events!!!

I'm going to the football (soccer) in Wales on the 10th August for the 3rd / 4th playoff, looking forward to it.
I bid for a bunch more tickets but didn't get any in the draw :(

If someone can post a schedule of some of the earlier events, it would be much appreciated and compensated.

While the official start of the Olympics isn't until Friday with the Opening Cermony, events have already started. Women's Soccer to be specific. Three games going on right now.

US Women 2-2 with France right now. Everyone's favorite, Alex Morgan with a goal.

USA! USA!
I don't know why I enjoy watching the US women's soccer team so much, but they've taken a 3-2 lead on France.

Yohan Blake or Usain Bolt? I think Bolt might break the 100m record again.

Bolt should win easily. I'm not sure he'll break the world record, though. He's apparently aiming to run in the 9.4's, but I can't see it happening.

Japan beats Spain in soccer. Cool to see an upset, there.

Bolt hasn't really looked smooth at all since he broke the records at Worlds. Of course, you never count him out; but his starts (usually his weakpoint in the 100m) have been shaky at best.
Blake on the other hand has been looking REALLY good and seems to be holding back something. Watch his last 25m of every race he's done, there is some crazy potential right there.
Bolt's talent is off-the-charts but I am still going with Blake.

Despite her racist, bigoted statements, lets all take a look and marvel at how stunningly beautiful Ms. Voula Papachristou is, gentlemen. I honestly cannot believe we share the same heritage
