With Trout and Trumbo playing today, they may scratch out 2 runs, even with Wells sucking it up

He could have replaced Bray and been about the same as Broxton.
And now we have only 2 LHP on the roster because Bray is on the DL...again.
Chapman and Marshall.

We're gonna add a bat through waivers, at least that's what it looks like. John Fay pretty much said as much before the deadline. I'm guessing it's gonna be Juan Pierre but who knows.

Apparently keeping Hairston creates a winning perception for the ball club. I really really hope Sandy & Co. were mandated to say that because that's some BS right there. More of the same with no creativity also in which I thought we would have oodles of.

Carlos Lee blocked a trade that would have sent him to the Yankees.

Should have traded David Wright for Cespedes or a boatload of sick prospects.
No Mets fans want to hear it but keeping Wright then signing him to a mega-deal is a bad move. They'll end up trading him after they overspend in a couple of years.
Trading him when his value is highest in the midst of a career year would have been a good idea.

Wright is a legacy player and have to keep him in NY unless his demands are insanely ridiculous. He's only 30 and he'll still have 4 to 5 great years in him with the way he trains. Have to keep him. Besides him we have 0 bats we could pencil to give us numbers besides probably Ike.

I know that. You know that.
Dusty doesn't.
If anything he will over use Marshall/Aroldis.

I understand this, but this is the dumbest ******* reason to keep a player around.
Also, he doesn't have great power, especially in that park, and keeping a player like him with limited HR power, and signing him to a huge deal, is stupid. He's having an awesome year and will still only finish with about 25 homers.
This year they could've gotten a boatload for him.
Three years from now when they trade him to a contender they'll get nothing.
They should build around their young pitchers, and play to the ballpark. Wright doesn't fit into the plan - in two years when Wheeler and Harvey are up and hopefully humming, Wright will be 32. Add some speed, keep Tejada and Ike, and go from there.

He's 15th in SLG and 31 in ISO in all of baseball so that's plenty of power when you couple it with his eye at the plate. Tejada is average at best and I see a big decline from him looking past the regular numbers. Wright is our only bat and he needs to stay. We're in NY and you don't let your stars leave NY. The Wilpons already let one of them walk and if they let another go I'd seriously consider stop being a Mets fan which has been my love since I was a child.

You do not build around him and Ike Davis. They are absolutely nothing special at all.

I mean those are the only two position players definitely worth keeping on the roster aside from Wright. They are much farther away than they realize. They could have added young bats that could potentially become cornerstone pieces in a few years rather than just keeping Wright to appease the fans. Basically a 2-or-3 for 1-who's-gonna-be-33-and-basically-alone-still-in-the-lineup- by the time you're really in contention.

They announced it'd be Holland. But you could throw a hot dog in that bullpen and hit 4 guys that would be better closers than Broxton. That pen is loaded.

How did nobody at all bite on Soriano? Dude has been pretty decent this year, and surely the Cubs would have paid most of his salary, considering they're better off getting any sort of low level prospect than having him hit a few home runs and possibly win them a couple more games in a tanking season.
