Random aside, but Goodell wants to see American Football as an Olympic event someday.

Considering that 99.9% of the best players are from America, this would be even less competitive than basketball, where there is a larger percentage of quality foreign players.

Plus, who wants to risk injury playing against a bunch of amateurs from some other country? I'd be pissed if any of my teams players wanted to go.

That would never happen, and it would be a huge waste of everybodies time involved.

Wanna make Michael Vick human? Make him roll out to the right side consistently. Stack the left side so he can't escape there comfortably, and his entire game goes to ****.

Hey how is that one D III or D II quarterback doing that got a tryout with the Chiefs I think? The one that made a video on Youtube showcasing his accuracy?

Pretty much. That's our gameplan every time we play him. We bring the blitz and force him to his right, or we stack zone defenders to his left which reduces his scrambling lanes.

To be fair though, the Eagles have our number so whatever gameplan we use hasn't been entirely effective.

This would never work. Take the competition aspect out of it. The Olympics are only two weeks long. So unless only eight teams qualify, there wouldn't be enough time to play the games.

I imagine there would be some kind of preliminary tournament to play your way in and then only have the semi-finals and finals during the actual Olympics.

Still. With the players vehemently against an 18 game schedule, I can't imagine they'd want to play 2-?? more games during their offseason against vastly inferior competition.

Tyron Smith, Dez Bryant, and Brandon Carr are probably the early stars thus far:

Dez:

Quote:
Forget about the off-the-field issues. Bryant has been wonderful. He's beating up corners for deep and short passes and he's dropped just one pass in three days of practices. Bryant has been slowed by Brandon Carr's press coverage from time to time, but the third-year receiver gets him back sometimes.

Brandon Carr:

Quote:
He's worth the $50.1 million he's getting paid. His strong upper body slows receivers down and he's doing a nice job in coverage, especially in man-to-man. Carr is a man who arrived in shape, and after starting 64 consecutive games there shouldn't be any questions about his durability.

Tyron Smith:

Quote:
Smith turned the tables on Ware during the first full-pads pass-rush drill of camp. The 21-year-old, who hasn’t played left tackle since high school, stopped Ware in his tracks on an attempted speed rush and rode him to the other side of the line when Ware tried a crossover move on the next rep.

“I’m really seeing maturity from Tyron Smith,” Ware said. “He’s a guy that can learn that position really fast. The strength that he brings from the right side is really unbelievable. And he’s got great feet, too. He’s really a natural.”

Dez looks like a different person hugely because his conditioning is 100x better and he's gotten a lot stronger, Carr has been getting a bunch of praise for his upper body strength and the way he re directs WR's, which is great because we run a ton of press man, and as usual Tyron sticks out because of his feet and athleticism. He's going to be a good one.

What about a skills challenge a la what they used to have at the Pro Bowl years back? Part of me thinks that would also be kind of pointless though.

The Eagles do but Vick was terrible against us in the one game last year. We knocked the crap out of him.

or have the same rules as the current football world championship.

Can't be a pro, must be no more than 1 year removed from college, finish 4 years.

Even a US team made up of our best college players would crush, and I mean absolutely MUTILATE, any other nation on this planet.

nah it would be the leftover UDFA. And yeah they would still crush them. We did crush Mexico with those rules.

Maybe we send the Rhode Island All-State High School team to the Olympics?

You can't 'stack one side' against Vick - that's ridiculous. He'll simply run to the right, and Reid will run his backs to the right.

The only way to stop Vick is to mix up coverages/blitz packages, stay true to your gap assignments, and concentrate on breaking down and not letting him slip around tackles.

Make Vick stay in the pocket and pick you apart. Blitzing him allows him to do what he does best - get out of the pocket and create with his legs or his arm. He can beat you deep while scrambling or just get huge chunks of yards.

If you keep him in the pocket, and he picks you apart with a 10-play drive, you simply tip your cap and keep playing. That's what makes him so damn special.

That's what makes him so damn special.
...wut.

I'm just going to let BBD have this one.

Nolan still had input in the '07 draft. Its was '08 and '09 when McClueless had full control and it showed. And I wouldnt give him ANY credit for Seattle's recent drafts, seeing as Schneider's running the show.

Of course we were oversimplifying it, but blitzing him and forcing him to his right is definitely effective.

He can run all day. I rather have Vick run for 150 yards and take punishment all game long than throw for 350 on my defense. You're not gonna win the game if he can't throw.

That's what the Giants did vs Rodgers in the playoffs. They played press man across the board with 2 deep safety, 4 man rush, and basically begged Rodgers to scramble.

And he did. I think he had around 140 rushing yards or something close to that. But guess what? It worked. Bc you rather have him rush for 150 than throw for 400.

At the end of the day, qbs are still qbs. You dare them to run all game long, they'll eventually get impatient and force throws into coverage. And thats where you get em.

He made a valid point if you think about it. He's saying force Mike Vick to read coverages all day and beat you with his mind. He hasn't shown he's capable of doing that consistently.

I rather blitz him bc I want him to make quick decisions. And I don't want him buying time with his legs and turning the game into streetball.
