I watched a couple of games with Keith Byars. I thought he was initially a tight end.

He was an H-back type he lined up everywhere. Hernandez comes to mind when I think of him because of how we line up Hernandez in the backfield sometimes, but Byars' background was more as a runner he just was a very good receiver too and was a big dude.

The usefulness of the fullback died when Cory Schlesinger declined.

Probably Greg Jones.
I watched Keith Byars in college... guy always looked funny running with those short choppy strides, but he could move. I'll never forget the long TD run he had against Dallas on Thanksgiving in the snow when he played for the Dolphins.
Mack Strong was one of the best too.
Larry Centers was the best receiving fullback that's ever played.
Moose Johnston, Roosevelt Potts, Zack Crockett, Leroy Hoard, William Floyd, William Henderson, Howard Griffith, Kevin Mack, Ickey Woods, Kimble Anders, John L. Williams, Tony Richardson..... ahhh yes... the fullback.
They were beautiful.

Hopefully in a few years once defenses completely physically switch to being built to stop the pass, offenses will bring back the power run game and fullbacks will bloom once again.

I didn't really appreciate it at the time, but the 90's had some really good FBs.
