"Abstinence only" is a federal guideline that governs sex ed. curriculum at the MS and HS levels.
The argument made against it is that instructing teens on how to use protection causes more teen pregnancies is as realistic as saying that a fire extinguisher causes fires. Then those of use with brains fire back with the fact that keeping lighters and matches away from people who have no idea how to use them shouldn't be looked at as a bad thing, yet, I digress.

I too had to take a human sexuality course as a kinesiology (Health and Human Performance teaching emphasis) major. I was 24 with a child already. I took out my wallet, showed the class pictures of my then 1 year old child, and professed I obviously had no idea of how to use a prophylactic.
