Sadly, he'd be an upgrade.

I'm pretty sure if you trade your #7 special teams guy to Seattle he would be the #2 receiver(and #1 when Sidney Rice injures himself).

He's pretty much guaranteed the spot now to be honest.

Green Bay (McCarthy) needs to stop pretending that they can turn Harrell into a real QB. Just end the charade.

I think they're just going to keep hoping and praying that nothing happens to Rodgers ever for the rest of all time.
Or they'll just wait for the end of training camp cuts and pick through the wreckage. One of the Browns or Seahawks QBs might end up on the market.

Lions will be cutting Kellen Moore, so there's that.

I didn't even know that Harrell was the immediate back up. They need to trade for Tarvaris Jackson or Colt asap. They aren't starters but they can hopefully got .500 with those receivers. Harrell wouldn't win a game. I'd even take Painter over him.

Kellen Moore makes Graham Harrell look like Kurt ******* Warner, so that doesn't really help...

I've been on the "they should acquire Colt McCoy" bandwagon for a while now. He's like Aaron Rodgers Zero Calories version. I could see him eeking out a .500 record if Rodgers is only down for a few weeks.

Well that's why they acquired an actual backup in Shaun Hill a few years ago, it wasn't terribly difficult. Point being, when Rodgers gets concussed again the Packers are ****** and they need to get **** done (but they won't).

Harrell is the immediate backup because McCarthy thinks that he can turn **** into gold at the QB position. That's my only real complaint about him as a coach.
In addition to T-Jack and McCoy, Matt Moore could be a sleeper pick. I wouldn't be surprised if either Moore or Garrard get released, and they've both had a crash course in the offense.

Garrard might get cut with an injury settlement, but I don't see Moore going anywhere. He's just fine as a true backup.
Also, unrelated but:
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-a-leg-injury/
Stevan Ridley injures his knee and/or hamstring in practice. No exact details on the seriousness though.

Yeah, that's just my wet dream. Moore might be available in a trade, but I doubt it. I'd take Garrard.

Ryan Tannehill will start tonight against Carolina. This week Philbin had the defense dial up new looks for the QBs this week as part of the competition, Tannehill was by far the best QB this week.

It's looking like all 4 first round rookie QBs will be starting the season for their teams.
Just goes to show that there is very little chance a highly drafted young QB gets to "sit and learn" anymore. There was a thread (which I cannot find) in which I went back over the last couple of years and found that 75% of highly drafted QBs are likely to start at least one game their rookie year and that over 50% started for the entire season.
The next time someone says "Team A should draft QB X and let him sit and learn behind..." you should just stop reading and mentally ***** slap that person.

i like tannehill more after hard knocks, was never really a fan.
I still think he should be a guy that sits. If you sit guys like tannehill and locker i think they have much much more chance of success

I didn't get a chance to watch the game last night; but, from the looks of it, it doesn't seem Weeden wanted to make anyone vomit or anything so that's nice.

Most Miami fans wanted him to sit, but he gets better every day. During OTAs Reggie Bush said Tannehill probably should sit the year, after 2 weeks in camp, it changed to he was ready to start.

He looked okay. Had some nice throws. One good one one third down that Little brought to the one yard line.

I think most rookie quarterbacks like to play anyways. I remember a few years back rookie Peyton Manning and Eli Manning said the best for them was to just get out there and start playing. The more reps the better. Hopefully your team has the right staff in place and puts pieces around that player to help them succeed.
