I was going through looking at the offseason signings last year. Holy **** that Pujols contract looks so much worse now. It was always bad, but now it's just putrid. Good thing for the Angels they are in a market where they can blow money like that.

Actually, the first six contracts are all pretty bad.

There are a fair number of good 2-3 year deals on that list. If someone would have said, "hey do you think giving 3 years and 30+ million dollars to Aramis Ramirez and Jimmy Rollins is a good idea?" I would instinctively say no. But, if you look at their numbers this year, and compare them to some of the other contracts, those deals don't look bad at all. Ramirez is quietly having a really nice season in Milwaukee.

2 for 26 for Beltran was a good deal for the Cards. Thinking about it just pisses me off.

I'm happy for Beltran. Glad to see he's doing so well.

Matt Harvey had a sexy ass start last night also. At least I'll have him, Wheeler, and Dickey to watch next year.

Watching Dickey's free fall regression back to average?

A's would likely be leading Wild Card and less than 3 back from Rangers if they had Willingham. Too many ABs given to black hole of Kila, Barton and now Moss.

Moss was a nice story for a month, now he's abysmal.

Yup he's in such a free fall that he's still one of the favorites for the NL Cy.

There's nothing about Dickey that indicates it's an aberration. Everything about the Orioles indicates that it is. Some of us live in reality here Jug, maybe you should go to this place.

The unpredictable nature of the knuckleball is enough reason to suggest he'll likely never repeat this again.

Except he's proved this year that his knuckler isn't the same as others have had in the past. Don't let your Met hatred get in the way of facts. Believe me I know it's difficult.

I know. He throws it faster. He'll also be 38 next year. People suggest that he can pitch until he's 45 like other knucklers. But how long can he throw it as hard as he does?

It's still not as much stress on his arm as normal pitchers. I agree he won't be able to do it forever like Wakefield but he also has bullets in his arm because he didn't pitch for awhile in between. I'd be comfortable giving him a 3 year extension plus the option that we have him for next year.

It doesn't even matter anyway because if they let Wright walk I'll be close to done anyway.

When didn't he pitch for a while? He was still pitching in the minors.

Michael Ynoa, the phantom DR prospect is finally pitching on a regular basis for the 1st time in 4 years. Since he was signed as a 16 year old, he is eligible for Rule 5 draft if unprotected by 40-man roster.

He hasn't had great pitching results even in short season A-ball, but scouts are still raving about his raw ability and projection. As a 20-year old who has been getting hit hard in low-A ball, do any of you get the sense your team would pick him up and stash him as a long-reliever in the majors for a year if he is left unprotected?

First thought is that Houston might go for him just for sheer need of farm upside.

The Padres would probably do it.

I was surprised by his giant power surge when he was first called up. I'm not surprised by what he is doing now.

You know what, nevermind. Ynoa's stats are hideous to look at, just now realized how bad he was pitching.
