Wonder if this is going to be a salary dump or if Boston will eat a lot of the salaries.

From what I understand, LA will take all the money and Boston gets nothing but freed up salary.

Beckett is only 15.7m per season for 2 years. That is good price.
Crawford with potential missing out 2013 season will cost 20mm per season up to 2017. He and Kemp perhaps are only players with over 20 mm annually.
Hanley Ramirez is good for up to after next season.
This is hardly affecting Dodgers' payroll and luxury tax threshold.

Crawford has rights to turn down a trade up to twice. Not allowed to be traded to Yankees during that contract.
Beckett has 10-5 rights so he can turn it down if he does not like Dodgers.
We will see.

I think it'd be hilarious if all this crap caused the Dodgers to be forced to let Kershaw go.

By pure arbitration standards, he'll be on the Lincecum track, which is gonna cost a shitloadd.

Red Sox will have to pay some of them. Those savings can cover Kerhsaw.

Tax rate for 2012 against Dodgers would be 20 percentage. Next year would be 30 percentage due to 2nd repeat. First time for 2013 is 17.5 percentage.
According to Cots', Dodgers are covering about 106mm this year.

I thought it was Colletti but then I talked myself out of it for some reason.

Remember, Colletti gets infinite chances but DePo gets fired because he hates Bill Plaschke.

Rubby De La Rosa, James Loney, Ivan DeJesus, Jerry Sands, and another top prospect are the names rumored to go to Boston.

ANOTHER top prospect? Are you insinuating that any of these guys are actually a top prospect? Loney sucks, DeJesus is a bench player, Sands is a fourth outfielder, and I guess Rubby is okay but we'll see.

Does anyone know where I can find a list of players who are eligible for the Rule 5 draft this winter?

I have to find the Colletti pic from his Dodger press conference where he was sporting a Giants ring. Love that pic.

I'm curious to see whether or not Boston would chip in for Crawford. Since the Dodgers claimed Gonzalez and Beckett, Boston could just opt to do nothing other than pay a small transaction fee and Los Angeles would be forced to take on their entire contracts. Why would Boston chip in for Gonzalez and Beckett if they can get rid of their contracts for nothing?

I played the luxury tax a little bit for Dodgers. I included all 2013 club options. I set up AAV for new season and beyond which usually is more than original contract with old team. I guessed partial prices for this year for newly acquired players.
The Luxury tax thresold is 178 mm each year.
2012 is about 170 mm without medical coverage and small changes. Without guessing who is gone.
2013 is about 195 mm without medical coverage and small changes.
With receiving cash from Red Sox and trading few own players, it is a good chance that Dodgers beat 178 mm threshold for 2012. That means next year would be their first offense so thus, 17.5 percentage will be added to 2013 payroll.
Not bad if Dodgers company does not mind paying extra.

Don't bother because there are over 100 players to be eligible for that and we do not know who will be added to 40 man roster by a week from the Thanksgiving weekend.
